NURSE (MALE OR FEMALE)
Office base location: Jenin
Main Purpose
Providing nursing care, treatment, and follow-up of patients, according to doctors’ prescriptions, protocols applied in service, and universal hygiene standards/precautions, to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the targeted population.
Main Responsabilities
- Know, promote, implement, and follow up the universal hygiene standards/precautions, bio-hazard prevention and infection control, security rules, and other protocols and procedures in the medical premises to ensure high standards of hygiene in the working environment and, respect medical secrets and confidentiality at all times.
- Organize and carry out care and treatments according to medical prescriptions, assist during consultations, daily rounds, and other medical procedures, and participate in health education of patients (and families) when necessary.
- Identify Sexually Gender Based Violence victims and refer them to the medical team so they can receive the necessary treatment. This includes knowing the importance and appropriate use of the Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) Kit.
- Ensure patients are properly received and installed and that those who lack autonomy are assisted, especially regarding their feeding, personal hygiene, movements, and comfort. For ER and OPD nurses, they must be able to ensure triage of patients in waiting areas, wards, or during emergencies, detect priority acute/emergency cases, carry out first aid care, and refer them to the doctor when necessary.
- Send materials to be sterilized and recuperate them from sterilization.
- Carry out admission, surveillance, and follow-up of patients (i.e. assessment of the evolution of their state of health and the identification of any emergency or deterioration).
- Implement and supervise administrative procedures and documentation (fill in patient’s files, forms, consumptions, statistics, registers, health files, etc.), ensure an appropriate written/oral handover, and report any problematic situations and cases that may arise. Participate in data collection and keep doctors/supervisors informed.
- Participate in the department-related pharmacy and medical equipment control and maintenance (quality and its functioning, storage conditions, follow-up of expired drugs inventories, stock takes of medicines and material at every team changeover ensuring no material is taken out of nursing area/wards without prior authorisation, etc).
- Perform cleaning and minor maintenance for biomedical equipment used, follow user manuals and protocols and, alert supervisors in case of malfunctioning. Supervise and train nurse-aids, nutritional assistants, cleaners, and other related staff under his/her supervision and, ensure teamwork and adherence to all appropriate protocols and procedures.
Context-Specific Tasks
- Working in the MSF mobile clinics moving together with the mental health team from Jenin and spending from 2 to 3 days every week in Jericho (and possibly other locations) and 2-3 days in Jenin for preparation of activities.
- Dispensing medications to patients according to medical prescriptions, adhering to MSF practice policies and procedures for dispensing medicines, with the support of the Pharmacy Team and Project Medical Referent (PMR).
- Placing timely orders to supply Jenin stock of medicines, together with the Pharmacy Team and PMR's support.
- Participating in the weekly planning of activities, with the support of PMR, Mental Health Activity Manager (MHAM) and Medical Assistant and following MSF standards.
- Working together with the mental health team, offering integrated services and promoting quality of care and services.

Education:
- Recognized nurse degree/diploma (essential)
- Bachelor in Science of Nursing (desirable)
Experience:
- 2 years of nursing experience in a health facility (essential)
- Previous experience working with NGOs (desirable)
- Demonstrated experience supervising and training others (desirable)
Languages:
- Fluently in English orally and in writing (essential)
- Local language (essential)
