MSF-Belgium is currently seeking to hire a NURSING TEAM SUPERVISOR- Reserve Pool
 
Main Purpose

Plan, organize, and evaluate the activities concerning nursing and the team associated, according to MSF values, policies and protocols and universal health standards, in order to warrant the quality and continuity of the health care and the development of the plan of action.

Accountabilities

  • Carry out the functions and tasks associated to nursing i.e. perform as a nurse or anaesthetist, whenever required or needed, in order to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience.
  • Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures and supervise his/her team follow the same standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her speciality.
  • Organize and coordinate the activities of his/her team (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), evaluate their performance and define and ensure the needs for training of staff, in order to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.
  • Carry out and/or supervise the (decentralized) pharmacy and medical equipment management (drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption, etc.) in his or her department, in order to satisfy the needs of material with efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensuring that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols. Reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service.
  • Carry-out and/or coordinate administrative (exit-paper, transfer-paper, etc.), information and data collection (patient files, forms, statistics, etc.) tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome and support decision-taking.
  • Give feedback/ reports to medical focal point.
  • Supervise nursing care given by MSF and ministry of health staff nurses in his/her assigned department.
  • Use knowledge and experience to make suggestions in order to optimize the resources and improve the quality of nursing care within the assigned department.
  • Assist with the collection of epidemiologic data.
  • Supervise the activities in the department/structure under his/her responsibility ensuring that the medical team knows tasks/responsibilities and collaborate together, quality of care in the different services, proper flow for the patients, presence of enough medications and medical items needed.
  • Ensure accurate data collection and reporting. Ensure the data are collected following the protocols and check the quality and coherence.
  • Guarantee that all patients documentation is managed in the proper way respecting patient privacy and confidentiality. Ensure that patients have necessary documents for referrals, admission or follow up
  • Training and capacity building for the medical team when needed with Nursing Activity Support. Defines the training needs of the nurse’s team with the NAM and plans sessions of theoretical and practical trainings. Participates in the training of the team by accompanying individuals in their work
  • Participates with the NAM in the elaboration of nursing protocols.
  • Responsible for all HR related communications with MSF HR department and Nurse Activity Manager, specifically: roster arrangement, timesheets checks and approvals, absence notification and replacement arrangements of the allocated staff with the selected back-ups.
  • Responsible for the implementation of IPC rules at the Injured Clinic respecting the MSF protocols
  • Carry out the pharmacy and logistics management (inventory, ordering, follow up on consumptions and expirations).
  • Ensure good communication and collaboration within his/her team including medical doctors, physiotherapists, social workers, watchmen, drivers, etc.

Job Requirements

Education

·       Essential nursing diploma and Valid Nurse License

Experience

·       Essential Minimum 4 years of experience as a nurse

·       Previous experience working with MSF or Other NGOs desirable

·       Previous experience in ER, ICU, PHC, Trauma, mass casualty response, Surgery desirable

·       Previous experience in a supervisor or managerial position is an asset

Languages

·       English (fluent in spoken and written) and Arabic Essential
