Project: Inclusive learning and psychosocial services for boys and girls with and without out disabilities- SHAREK

1. Background

• About Handicap international 

HANDICAP INTERNATIONAL, runs its projects under its operating name Humanity and inclusion (HI)

• Presentation of the project within which the consultancy will take place

HI is currently implementing a project under- the title of “Sharek” in S. Nablus and Qaliqilya, more specifically in Ma’adama, Douma, Ousreen,Jaloud ,Beita  and Ezzbet Tabib ,the primary goal of the above-mentioned project – Sharek is to support girls and boys with disabilities who dropped out of schools or are at risk of dropping out through the provision of inclusive learning services , school-based psychosocial support , assistive devices, transportation, learning materials, and activities to address violence and bullying.

Crucial component of the above-mentioned project is to provide assistive devices to support girls and boys with disabilities to maximize their inclusion in schools. The devices include hearing aids, eyeglasses, enlarged books, and adapted desks. To ensure that the provision of assistive devices is effective, the project will conduct an in-depth assessment of the needs of identified children with disabilities.

2. Description of the required tasks

The purpose of the consultancy service is to support HI in the technical assessment of 15 identified children from the identified schools in WB to evaluate their rehabilitation needs and to provide detailed specifications of the needed Assistive devices (AD’s).

The expected results of the consultancy are:

• Report for identified children’s rehabilitation and AD’s needs.
• Identify the several needs for children for AD’s and mark them with high to low priorities.
• List of detailed description of needed AD’s for identified children.
• To ensure delivery of AD’s for children with information sessions for care givers on the usage of the AD’s .

HI will support the transportation and delivery of the AD’s .

3. Methodology required

For the technical assessment for identified children, The consultant will be introduced to the technical assessment tools, and then to conduct need assessment for ADs with the support of HI in accessing children with disabilities in schools.

• For each identified child with disability, rehabilitation technical assessment will be needed and to be collectively reported in one full report for total 15 children expressing the status and need per each child.
• Provision of the list of needed AD’s (including detailed specification per each) with ranking it from High priority to law.
• Delivery of total 15 AD’s to identified children with disabilities, HI will ensure transportation of the consultant.

4. Deliverables

• Production of synthetic assessment report for 15 identified children with disabilities including priorities and ADs needed ranked from high to low priority.
• Support the identification and provision of AD’s for identified children with disabilities.

 

5. Expertise required

• Education degree in occupational therapy, minimum of bachelor degree;
• At least 3 years’ experience in delivering rehabilitation services
• Safe delivery of assistive devices;
• Experience in rehabilitation assessment;
• Comfortable using excel.
• Good background on disability and inclusion;
• Willingness to travel to the field;
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills;
• Ability to submit assessment reports\sheets.

6. Indicative schedule

The daily consultancy contract is for a maximum of 14 days to be provided during 2 months in the following timeframe: November 1’st- December,31th
