Integrating ICT in Education Program
Introduction
Madrasati (“my school” in Arabic), led by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, is a multi-stakeholder, holistic education program aimed at creating quality learning environments in disadvantaged public schools. It brings together public, private and non-profit partners in a comprehensive education initiative.
 
Madrasati Palestine (www.madrasati.org), which was launched in April 2010, aims to rejuvenate 20 schools in East Jerusalem over a period of 3 years. Madrasati Palestine will implement in partnership with the Jordanian Education Initiative (JEI) a program aiming to integrate ICT in education, which will first be piloted in eight schools and then extend to the remaining 12 schools.
 
 
Scope of Work:
In close coordination with Madrasati Palestine staff, the IT Specialist position aims at providing technical support for the projects, schools and solving technical issues of networks, hardware, and software. Also keeping update with the new trends and developments in technologies.
 
Job Responsibilities
-Liaise with the different stakeholders on the delivery of IT related equipment.
-Help resolve computer-software, hardware or networks problems for schools, clients through various modes of communication, such as field visits, through via e-mail or conference calls.
-Train different actors on how to use certain computer programs and hardware for teachers, students, principals, supervisors and staff.
-Keep to date with new trends and keep up with the changing face of the computer industry.
-Develop and implement programs, suggest recommendations to management, serves as a technical adviser and prepare reports in the area of expertise.
-Develop and provide IT procedures and regulations to all users who should follow them.
-Assist in preparing IT specifications for tenders and have the knowledge, experience and abilities in evaluating technical infrastructure/solutions.
-Project management of specific projects as directed.
-Establish and foster communication channels with internal stakeholders.
-Manage the change related to the delivery of project outcomes.
-Monitor and coordinate the project resources.
-Provide technical assistance and support to the Jerusalem Directorate of Education’s IT focal person(s) to gradually lead the process.
-Undertake any relevant tasks or responsibilities within the scope of his/her specialization as assigned by the direct supervisor.
 
Qualifications and Skills
-A minimum of 4 years of related experience preferably in IT related fields.
-A bachelor degree in Computer Information Systems or any other related field.
-Possess strong communication and liaison skills and excellent IT and computer skills.
-Strong analytical ability.
-Ability to meet strict deadlines.
-Knowledge/understanding of formal project management methodologies.
-Able to contribute to strategic thinking.
-Communicates with influence.
-Applies and builds appropriate knowledge skills and experience.
-Ability to work unsupervised and be proactive.
-Experienced in support Microsoft products such as Microsoft Visio and Project.
-Fluency in English (Reading and Writing).

IMPORTANT NOTE:  this position requires daily visits to targeted schools in Jerusalem.
