UNIFEM
The United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) in the occupied Palestinian territory is seeking to recruit qualified candidates for the following positions:
Title: Projects Assistant
Post no.1
Programme: Women-run Schools Canteens Programme
Location: Jerusalem
Application deadline: October 27, 2009
Type of contract: Service Contract
Post level: SC5
Languages required: English, Arabic
Duration of initial contract: 6 months (renewable).
The Projects Assistants will undertake the following main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support including issuing of contracts, recording expenses, preparation of payment requests, etc…
-Assist in ensuring efficient and timely implementation of the programme activities
-Maintain programme filing and ensure its adherence to UNIFEM regulations.
-Participate and assist in organizing workshops and activities related to the program as requested.
-Assist in programme formulation and reporting.
-Assist in liaising and following up with programme partners (women’s organizations, government organizations, donors and local NGOs).
-Provide secretarial and logistical support to Programme Officer.
-Attend different meetings and draft minutes of meetings requested.
-Review recent reports on Palestinian women and other related issues released from different UN agencies and other partners.
-Reporting to the Program management and steering committee of the programme on the programme and offering advice when necessary.
-Keeping up to date with the latest advancement in the field of information
-Organizing regular project-site visits in order to monitor and evaluate flow of activities on the ground.
-Performing others duties requested by supervisors as need arises.
Required Skills and Experience
-A degree in project management, social sciences, development fields or any other related fields.
-Minimum two to three years of experience in project management or related fields.
-Excellent Communication and negotiation skills.
-Strong sense of initiative and coordination.
-Excellent writing and typing skills in both Arabic and English.
