International Medical Corps has been present in Gaza since 2009.

 
International Medical Corps is currently recruiting staff to be based in Gaza, for a US Agency for International Development funded project. Gaza 2020: Health Matters is a five-year intervention designed to improve the resilience of the health sector in Gaza by increasing access to and quality of emergency and essential health services provided by NGOs, CBOs, and private providers.

JOB SUMMARY

The Primary Health Care will provide technical advice and supervision of the sub-awards program to NGO and CBOs working in primary health care and/or secondary health care activities under the project including expanded access to primary health care services in the NGO sector and increased availability of targeted services in the NGO sector

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
-Implement quality programming related to primary health care, reproductive health, community mental -health, community health outreach, nutrition, pharmaceutical supply, and appropriate drug use.
-Coordinate technical training for sub-awardees on identified priority areas (e.g. GBV, PSS, nutrition) to -improve service delivery and capacity of health care workers
-Work with sub-awardees on effective clinic / facility administration, including: developing and -implementing staffing and procurement plans and ensuring hospital procedures and protocols (e.g. -infection prevention and control) are in place.
-Technical Review for the grant applications submitted by the sub-awardees
-Preparation of the specifications of the instruments and Equipment needed for the health care facilities -and ensure proper installation and use by the health staff.
-Working with the Emergency Response team and Hospital team in developing emergency response -plans to ensure health care facility and provider capabilities are integrated as one cohort of potential first responders.
-Support Identification of the first response capabilities and gaps of health care providers and facilities – -providing interventions to address relevant gaps.
-Regular reporting on all activities of the project.

QUALIFICATIONS:

-An advanced degree in medicine, or relevant health background with Masters in Public Health or equivalent degree:
-Clinical experience is desirable.
-At least 5 years of experience working as a technical expert in the area of primary health care.
-Demonstrated familiarity with the health system in Gaza, especially with the NGOs and CBOs that provide primary health care and health outreach services.
-Strong verbal and written English communication skills required. Arabic preferred.
-Experience in use of Microsoft office and internet programs.

The work will be based in Gaza, with frequent travel to project sites.
