The Opportunity – Procurement Assistant (For Nationals based in Gaza)
Post location: Field Office in Gaza - Rafah
Contract Duration and Level of Effort: 6 months with possibility for extension
ROLE PURPOSE:
This role will support the emergency response Supply Chain team with Gaza Field Office within oPt CO to ensure the proper procedure is followed for the purchasing of all goods and/or services for Save the Children’s programming and operations.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Supply Chain Officer
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Ensure that at all times Save the Children procurement policy and procedures are implemented and adhered to and are within compliance to donor regulations.
- Facilitating purchase requests for programs and process with all supporting documentation prior to submitting it for the final authorization ensuring approval by authorized signatory, as per SC officer instructions.
- Maintain proper and timely updating of procurement tools, such as but not only limited to: Procurement Tracker for Gaza field office.
- Collect quotations for supplies and services according to procurement policy
- Review all quotes and compile competitive bid analysis for review by procurement officer or logistics manager prior to raising purchase order.
- Ensure due process is followed and apply vetting process for all vendors according to SCI and Donor policies.
- Participate and facilitate frequent market assessments to identify stock levels and new vendors as per SCI operational needs.
- Coordinate delivery between supplier, warehouse and program.
- Update SC officer if a purchase order has not been delivered according to specification, quantity or quality agreed.
- Communicate any real or perceived conflict of interest which may arise in the execution of job
- Prepare vendor payment packs as per SCI finance policies.
- Commitment to serving members and their donors, and to helping build a culture of member service throughout organisation.
- Assist in the procurement process with the collection of quotations, the preparation of paperwork, tracking and reporting out on orders and the maintenance of files/records
General:
- Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS
- College degree, minimum high school education
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential:
- IT skills including excel, MS Office
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Detail oriented, honest, flexible, hardworking
- Ability to synthesise and analyse information, and make clear, informed decisions
- Ability to build relationships quickly with a wide range of people, both internally and externally
Desired
- 1-2 years’ experience in logistics or procurement function
