Products Shelf-Life Extension Expert

Chemonics is seeking a skilled consultant to help one of BREB’s beneficiaries to extend the shelf-life of the company’s products to assure consistent quality in the international markets.

The expert is responsible for the following principal services and responsibilities:

• Gap Analysis: Review and analyze production processes, quality controls, and factors affecting product shelf life to identify strengths and weaknesses.
• Research and Development:  Research and propose improvements in packaging, processes, and formulations, focusing on stability and efficiency.
• Testing and Validation: Conduct shelf-life and stability tests, analyze results, and provide recommendations.
• Implementation and Monitoring: Implement strategies for shelf-life extension, monitor product quality, and increase the staff awareness of new procedures.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure methods meet regulatory standards, prepare documentation, and protect proprietary recipes.

Level of Efort and Period of Performance

• This short-term technical assistantce (STTA) is for 48 days of level of effort (LOE) over a period of 24 weeks.
• The consultant is expected to work part-time.
• The location of this assignment will be one of BREB’s beneficiaries in Hebron, Palestine.
• Specific responsibilities and deliverables will be shared with short-listed candidates.

• MSc degree in food science, chemistry, microbiology, or a related field.
• At least 12 years of practical experience in product formulation and shelf-life.
• Experience in packaging materials and methods.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance.
• Sense of complex problem solving, and ability to provide multi-scenario solutions.
