Job Title : Program Coordinator - Bringing Back Humanity to the Lives of Palestinian Orphans
Location : Gaza

The Welfare Association (“WA”), is a private non-profit organization. The WA has worked tirelessly since 1983 with Palestinian organizations, such as educational establishments and NGOs, across the West Bank, Gaza, 48 areas and Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, in pursuit of its mission to support Palestinian society towards
sustainable development.
Abraaj Capital (“AC”), has created a 10 million dollar trust fund and announced a mission, as part of its corporate social responsibility program to provide for the education of the 1,257 Gaza children orphaned as a direct consequence of the war against Gaza 28 December 2008 - 18 January 2009.
WA and AC have agreed to undertake the social program “Bringing Back Humanity to the Lives of Palestinian Orphans” to support the educational rights of the orphaned children & youth of Gaza, over a period of 22 years, by ensuring for them: access to good health care, education, constructive leisure and play, protection from abuse and exploitation; and
providing them with the necessary resources and competencies to attain self-sufficiency and self-sustenance, and assisting them in establishing and pursuing productive careers to benefit themselves and society at large.
WA is seeking a dynamic leader and team builder with excellent conceptual, analytical and organizational skills for the position of Program Coordinator ‘’Bringing Back Humanity to the Lives of Palestinian Orphans’’
Responsibilities & Duties:
In accordance with established WA policies & regulations:
1. Assist in managing the program in accordance with the action plan and budget set for program implementation.
2. Ensure the implementation of the program schedule of activities.
3. Provide logistic and technical preparations for the Advisory Committee meetings and workshops.
4. Assist in negotiating and drafting assignment contracts with consultants in accordance with clear set of budgetary and operational guidelines.
5. Assist in budget planning and control
6. Coordinate the implementation of program components; prepare presentations and draft reports & executive briefing of the program performance, periodically.
7. Coordinate periodic follow-ups with the beneficiaries and conduct regular field visits to program sites.
8. Assist in establishment and strengthening linkages and strategic alliances with program partners
9. Supervise the inquiry desk services and directing these to the Manager.
10. Maintain incoming and outgoing mail and file of the program.
11. Feed the contents of the WA- program home page and update it.
12. Any other duties assigned by the Manager.
Managerial and Professional Qualifications:
• A university degree in an area related to the program, preferably in the field of psychosocial sciences (or health & nutrition or education) and management.
• A minimum of 5 years work experience in children and or youth development programs including career guidance, counseling and psychosocial or socio economic or health programs.
• Strong program management skills and experience including planning, budget preparation and control, monitoring, evaluation, and time management.
• Ability to work within and contribute to a team and to produce results under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Fluency in Arabic- and English languages, reading & writing.
• Good public relations and communication skills including coordinating networks between institutions of relevance.
• Good command of computer applications.
