SUMMARY OF POSITION
IREX is currently seeking a Program Director for the Department of State funded Increasing Employment in the MENA Region program. The program will increase job placement and generate sustainable employment, particularly among long-term unemployed youth.
Position is contingent on funding.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Provide strategic and technical leadership, ensuring that all program objectives are met
-Provide daily oversight of the grant, including fiscal and personnel management, community relations, and project implementation and evaluation during the project period
-Serve as point of contact for donor, ensuring high quality deliverables
-Oversee and manage implementing partner (youth organizations) relationships and relationships with private sector employers
-Liaise and collaborate with national and local government officials
-Oversee development and delivery of high quality training programs for youth
-Manage and mentor project staff
-Coordinate with Home Office, ensuring that organizational and USG policies are implemented
-Oversee financial management, administration, compliance, monitoring, evaluation and reporting on program activities
-Represent IREX publicly
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
-7-10 years of progressive management experience in the international development field on USG-funded programs; experience managing large teams and complex projects
-Substantial experience in youth-focused employment programming, youth livelihood development, and youth workforce development
-Master’s degree in international development or other relevant field preferred (focus on youth development a plus)
-Demonstrated capabilities in capacity building, and experience in working effectively with local organizations and other development partners
-Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and work on a multi-national and multi-partner team
-Ability to establish strong working relationships with local partners and stakeholders
-Work experience in the MENA region preferred; experience in the West Bank strongly preferred
-Professional communication skills in English required; proficiency in Arabic strongly preferred
