Program Officer

The Swedish Organisation for Individual Relief, SOIR, is a Swedish NGO working in the field of health, education and economic empowerment in 12 countries worldwide. SOIR has been working in Jordan since 1967 all along promoting the rights of persons with intellectual disabilities. In the new strategic period 2015-2017, we intend to expand our support to the civil society in Jordan.  We have therefore opened a new position of Programme Officer and are searching for a committed and experienced local professional to our field office in Amman.    

Position: The position of Programme Officer is a full-time position with the commencement date of August 1, 2014.
The position is subordinated to the Country Director based in Amman.   

Responsibilities:  
The position involves initiating SOIR’s support to civil society organisations, as well as to follow up and report on operational performance and results. An important responsibility is to facilitate, monitor and report on SOIR’s capacity building support to partner organisations aiming at strengthening the partner organisations’ performances.  

Qualifications:
-Strong commitment to fight and expose poverty and social exclusion by supporting civil society actors to become strong and sustainable agents of change.
-University degree in Development studies, Social or Political Science, Management, or equivalent working experience.
-Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in the development sector.
-Understanding of and experience with civil society organisations in Jordan.
-Demonstrated experience from and good skills in project management (PME-R).
-Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English.
-Excellent computer skills in the Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
-Driving licence.
-Possibility to live and work in Jordan.
