United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is willing to fill the following vacant post:
Title: Programme Assistant, Jerusalem
Level: GS5– Fixed Term Appointment – IMIS No. 52303
Key Tasks and responsibilities of the Assignment:
variety of information gathering, monitoring, technical and administrative services of
moderate scope and difficulty, in support of the Programme delivery activities through
undertaking the following key tasks:
1. Collects information mainly from records, reports and through the phone. Assists in
the preparation of periodic and ad hoc reports on Emergency and Field Operations
programme and project activities. Organizes data and information, prepares and
maintains records, documents and control plans for the monitoring of project/
programme implementation. Logs activities of Field Ops and Emergency.
2. Attends internal and external meetings as assigned. Prepares minutes, agendas, talking points, power points presentations and other briefing documents as required. Organizes the information in an adequate format, including spreadsheets as needed and updates it as necessary. Assist in tracking funding as required. Assist in the organization of external visits in coordination with other sections.
3. Contributes to the preparation of reports, project documents, proposals and
submissions to governments by providing information, preparing tables and drafting
relatively routine sections. Prepares background information for use in discussions
with governments and other organizations. Participates in the briefing and debriefing of
project personnel. Reviews exchanges of letters and takes appropriate follow-up action. Assists in the administrative process of government or NGOs requests for assistance. Maintains the archive of relevant communications as needed.
4. Undertakes field visits in support of zonal offices as required, including the West Bank and the Gaza strip. Contributes to needs assessment and field monitoring as required.
5. Liaises with Programme and Operations as required, making sure that the information flow takes place smoothly and that the data provided is precise. Liaise with zonal office staff and partners in the field to collect information, consolidate it and tabulate
it. Presents the information in a concise and well-organized manner.
6. Performs other duties, as required.

Selection Criteria:
Academic Qualifications:
Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical or university
courses in a field related to the work of the organization
Work Experience:
Five years professional work experience in project administration, including data
collection and analysis of at least one year in closely related Programme activities.
Previous experience in Programme planning, management is an asset.
Competencies:
Analytical and conceptual ability; communication skills. Planning and monitoring
skills; ability to organize work & projects. Ability to make timely and quality judgments
and decisions. Commitment to continuous learning for professional development.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, and establish harmonious and effective
working relationships both within and outside the organization. Initiative, passion and
commitment to UNICEF’s mission and professional values.
Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic (spoken and written). Knowledge of other languages
is an asset.
Computer:
Very good working knowledge and use of computer applications, specifically office
applications (Power Point, Excel and Word) and internet tools. Use of database and
statistical software an asset.
