Job Description

The Olof Palme International Center is a Swedish non-profit organisation that supports partner organizations in Israel and Palestine that are committed to democracy, human rights, and peace. The Palme Center is part of the Swedish labour movement with headquarters in Stockholm and a regional office in Jerusalem/ Ramallah. Through our development projects, we seek to empower people to change their societies and thereby their own lives. This is achieved through support to social movements, trade union organisations and political parties, as well as to other popular movements. Women, youth, and grassroots activists are our main target groups.

We are a now recruiting a Programme Coordinator for our office in Ramallah. The Programme Coordinator will be part of the P Olof Palme International Center’s field team together with a Field Program Manager and a part time Administrative Assistant.

Main Duties
-Monitoring and support to the implementation of The Olof Palme International Center Palestine Programme
-Collect, file and handle interim and annual reports from partner organizations;
-In coordination with the Program Manager, discuss and document partner organizations’ results, strengths and weaknesses as well as capacity building needs;
-Support the Program Manager in developing and presenting capacity building initiatives with the partner organsiations;
-Maintain and develop partnerships with relevant actors and organizations;
-Contribute to internal processes to revise and develop priorities, strategic goals and program objectives for the Palestine Programme;
-Attend meetings with the Program Manager and provide consecutive translation;
-Translate shorter documents such as articles, invitations, visitors programs and e-mails.

Administrative tasks
-Give a logistic support to the Palme Center´s Swedish member organizations during their visits in Palestine.
-Develop periodic activity plan of the local office
-Assist in preparing annual narrative report to Palestinian Authorities NGO Administration;
-Contribute to the regular daily activities related to running the office in Ramallah;

Requirements
-University Degree in relevant field, preferably with some formal education in political science, social science, international relations, law, international humanitarian law, public and international administration, etc.
-Minimum of three years work experience in similar position with an international NGO and/or national NGO working with democracy and human rights;
-Proven understanding of project management (inc. LFA,RBM) preferred;
-Proven understanding of Human Rights Based Approach preferred;
-Excellent analytical, inter-personal and written communication skills;
-Demonstrated capacity to work cooperatively in a team and with relevant actors;
-Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English;
-Committed to promoting human rights and democratic development;
-Comfortable with computers and informative technology;
-Driving license preferred
