CONTEXT:
BBC Media Action is the independent international charity of the BBC which uses media to advance development worldwide. We do this through partnering with civil society, media and others to produce creative programmes and other outputs which inform and engage audiences on key development issues. We also strengthen the media sector through building professional capacity and infrastructure. JOB PURPOSE:
The Project Assistant will support the effective, efficient and timely delivery of BBC Media Action’s Khaleena Nitfaham (Let’s Get Along) project, including but not limited to logistical and co-ordination support to the team working on the project.
Your good communication skills in both Arabic and English will be made use of, as will your ability to deal confidently and effectively with staff and stakeholders at all levels to ensure the administration and organisation of activities with the project partner PYALARA. We also need your excellent organisational and administrative skills not only to prioritise workloads but also to meet deadlines. You’ll be flexible and have good attention to detail with the ability to work speedily and accurately under pressure.
The post holder will report through to BBC Media Action’s Country Director and will work closely with BBC Media Action’s Production Trainer and as well as all members of the BBC Media Action Palestinian Territories team.
MAIN DUTIES:
-Assisting the lead production trainer in project activities including training and capacity building activities
-Organising and facilitating training activities with the project partner to be run by the lead production trainer and short term international consultants and trainers
-Ensuring all arrangements for meetings, consultations, training seminars and workshops are made, including confirming participants with partner organisation
-Collate/prepare documents for meetings, reports and publication, including where relevant training materials, presentations, website and communications copy
-Translating project documents.
-Preparing minutes of meeting and presentations
-Deal with routine correspondence on own initiative and prepare draft correspondence.
-Any other relevant tasks relating to the project
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
-Demonstrable experience of working with NGOs, international agencies, or a similar environment
-Experience of performing a project co-ordination role within a project team.
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English, experience in translation and interpretation.
-Experience of working productively and collaboratively within a diverse project team and capacity to deal with a wide range of people and stakeholders
-Attention to detail, the ability to work speedily and accurately under pressure, ability to operate effectively in a politically sensitive environment
-Excellent organisational and administrative skills to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and respond flexibly to rapidly changing priorities
-Experience in media or development.
Desirable:
-Production/programme making experience
