Position: Project Assistant
Location: Gaza
Duration: 30 Months (full-time 100%)
Responsible to: Technical Officer
Closing date: 25th March 2017

THE JOB

Under the direct supervision of the Technical Officer and the management of the Project Manager, the Project Assistant will be responsible for supporting the TO and the PM in the implementation, progress monitoring, and reporting of the project Fostering Inclusive Employment and promoting the advancement of equitable opportunities for Persons with Disabilities implemented by HI & partners organizations.
The Project Assistant is expected to share his/her time between fieldwork/activity implementation and office work for project support.

Main tasks will include:


Project activities Implementation

- Support the Technical Officer in the process of identification of PwDs to benefit from job placements and internships.
- Support the technical officer in identification of companies and meeting other stakeholders based on the needs of the project.

- Support the technical officer in the preparation and implementation of the training sessions and raising awareness for employers.
- Support the technical officer in the preparation and implementation of trainings for the DPOs.

- Support the technical officer in the preparation of PWDs for job placements through training sessions and guidance.
- Support the technical officer in the conduction of the accessibility assessment for employer.

- Support the technical officer and the employers disability committee/focal point in developing inclusive action plan.
- Support the technical officer in follow up with the career guidance and counselling of the PWDs employees.

- Support the technical officer in the creation of the multi stakeholders working groups.
- Support the technical officer to conduct the employment study

- Support the technical officer in mapping national or local employment forums and related events.
- Support the technical officer in DPO and employers grant management

Administrative, budget and logistics management

- Handle purchase of project materials in collaboration with the support services in Gaza.
- Handle logistics necessary for the facilitation of the delivery of project workshops, awareness raising sessions and trainings.
- Support preparation of HI and partners payment authorizations of the project.
- Compile monthly spending forecasts from PM and project team and review them with PM.
- Act as key support and contact between Project team members and support services in Gaza.
- Follow up with Logistics Assistant all project purchases and deliveries.
- Assist the PM in monitoring the project budget and follow-up the expenses by HI in Gaza.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting:

- Track project deliverables using appropriate project tools
- Follow up and compile necessary data for monitoring of the project as advised by the PM
- Support project team to ensure that activities are implemented in accordance with project indicators defined
- Conduct regular field monitoring for project activities.
- Support Technical Officer in the co-ordination between all the projects internal and external interfaces.
- Compile statistical reports from the field on monthly basis, analyse and share with PM.
- Submit monthly project activity report (statistical and narrative) to the PM in respect to the project reporting validated formats, based on HI activity updates.
- Support the PM in collecting and compiling all data needed to draft donor reports (Quarterly Mid-term final report), and preparation of reports annexes.
- Participate in analysing lessons learned on the projects experience gained from implementation.
- Support in project evaluation as defined by PM.

Other duties

- Represent and defend project in clusters, forums, conferences, and prepare minutes as requested by TO & PM.
- Ensure all project documents are filed in hard and soft copies on weekly basis
- Perform other duties / activities as requested by PM, FC and/or HOM.


THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

- Bachelor degree in economics, development, social work and/or business management.
- Good level of spoken and written English
- At least 2 years experience in community based work or work with vulnerable people
- At least 1 years of experience in livelihoods
- Good computer skills and administrative skills
- Flexibility, ability to take initiative
- Good Organizational skills/ Proactive
- Excellent communication skills
- High Level Written and verbal skills
- Ability to work in a team
- Good skills in organization, co-ordination and the transfer of knowledge are essential.
- The person must be able to work independently and without constant supervision.
- Ability to live and work in a difficult security context and in conditions of limited comfort and willingness to accept security protocols.
- Ability to work under pressure in an unstable and changing environment.
- Motivation for promoting access to work for people with disability.
