With the programme “Strengthening the Influence of Palestinian Refugees on their Living Conditions” (PART) as part of the regional programme Supporting Palestinian Refugees (SPR), Germany is making a comprehensive contribution to supporting the United Nations Works and Relief Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and other partners in Lebanon, Jordan, Gaza and the West Bank. The objective of PART is as follows: The exertion of influence of Palestinian refugees for improving their living conditions in a protracted violent conflict has increased on individual and structural level. PART pursues a multi-level approach: consultancy to UNRWA and institutions of the host governments regarding reform processes and regional networking; support of national non-governmental organizations (NGO) with regard to setting up network structures (e.g. youth platforms); support of the exchange between the camps and the transfer of knowledge between community-based organisations (CBO).

In order to support the implementation of PART in the West Bank, we are looking for a full-time (100%)

“Project Assistant”

Tasks and Functions include but are not limited to:

Monitoring

The project assistant

  • supports collecting and entering all data related to the project’s monitoring (impact, risks, potential negative results)
  • shares collected data with all (regional) team members
  • follows on the entry of the weekly risk monitoring and monthly monitoring of potential negative results

Knowledge management

The project assistant

  • supports the project advisor with filing on GIZ’s data management system
  • files project-related material according to GIZ regulations

General tasks

The project assistant

  • compiles documents related to contracts (consultant, local subsidies, grant agreements)
  • supports with contracts preparation and follow-up
  • organises team meetings (national and regional)
  • in coordination with the project manager, prepares agenda for all thematic, national and regional team meetings
  • participates in (national and regional) team meetings and workshops and assists with documenting these, e.g. by writing minutes
  • supports project implementation and follow up with the local partners.

Other duties/additional tasks

The project assistant

  • performs other duties and tasks at the request of management

Job Requirements

Required qualifications, competences and experience

    • B.A. in social sciences, psychology, economics or similar
    • At least 1-year professional experience (also on voluntary basis) in a comparable position
    • Very good knowledge of oral and written English
    • Good communication skills
    • Good overview of the Palestinian refugee context
    • Ideally (theoretical and/or practical) overview on conflict transformation and participation
    • Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
    • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
