Terms of Reference
Within the general framework of the Spanish MDG Fund Programme on “Gender Equality and Women‘s Empowerment in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt)” and more specifically under outcome 1 of the programmeAwareness raised, behaviour and attitudes changed amongst men and women on gender relations, women‘s entitlements and rights and outcome 2 Organise training and workshops to raise awareness on gender in local authorities and related NGOs), the two Project Associates (Gaza and West Bank) will perform the following tasks under the direct supervision of UNFPA Jerusalem office, and in close coordination with the MDG Fund Programme Management Unit (PMU).
Within the named project, Project Associate will carry out the following functions:
* Provides support to overall achievements of UNFPA activities under the MDG - Gender joint programme in the oPt
* Follows up on the project daily activities and ensure smooth implementation with the ability to resolve any administrative problems arising within the implementation process and ensure reporting to UNFPA responsible officer
* Assists in establishing and maintaining good liaison with governmental and non-governmental partners as well as concerned UN agencies
* Contributes to monitoring of project activities implemented by national partnersÆ
* Organizes and coordinates all necessary workshops and meetings for programme implementation
* Assists in the preparation of required reports for donors and senior managementÆ
* Ensures regular information/progress reports are delivered on time by different partners
* Represents the Fund in national forums and partners meetings as requested
* Advises for any potential adjustment of actions and procedures in light of changing requirements/needs
*Works closely and in a team spirit with all programme staff, particularly with the Programme Manager, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and the participating Agencies‘ Project Officers / Managers / Coordinators
*Participates in coordination meetings called by the Programme Manager and responds to queries from other Agencies as well as from the Programme Manager
* Responds effectively to coordination queries from the Programme Manager
* Provides information and data, in writing and orally, as requested, concerning UNFPA‘s activities, including budget expenditures, revisions and annual budget work plans, upon request by the Programme Manager and/or the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
* Actively participates, provides inputs as requested by the Programme Manager, in the drafting of the joint annual work plans
* Applies, to UNFPA‘s activities, monitoring tools as developed and finalized for the whole project
*Any other tasks that may be assigned

Job Requirements
Academic Requirements: University degree in Gender, Development, or other related social science field.
Experience: Three to five years of related professional experience, preferably in gender equality or women‘s rights.
Languages: Fluency in oral and written English and Arabic
Computer Skills: Proficiency in current office software applications
