Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation (BASR) is a non-profit non-government organization that is nationally recognized for the comprehensive specialized inclusive health, rehabilitation and development programs and services it renders to the Palestinian population, particularly persons with disabilities, through its varied centre based, outreach and community based programs. BASR is currently seeking to fill the following position:

Position Title:            Self-Employment Officer
Location:                    Beit Jala
Project duration:       3 years
Contract:                    1 year renewable on a yearly basis.
Accountable To:        Livelihood program manager

Key responsibilities:

  • Understand disability related laws and conventions governing services to persons with disabilities, adopting a human rights approach to disability.
  • Design and implement project livelihood interventions and activities in close coordination with the program manager.
  • Provide technical oversight in the field of livelihood and manage the field operations.
  • Facilitate the introduction of the livelihood framework to relevant stakeholders, public and private sector employers, micro-financing organizations, etc. and ensure the sustainability of project-supported livelihood interventions.
  • Support the planning and implementation of the project training activities in the fields of livelihood and development of training materials.
  • Provide technical reports on the progress of the project livelihood related activities or any other reports.
  • Facilitate access of persons with disabilities to apprenticeship opportunities, job placement as well as micro-financing programs.
  • Participate in meetings, seminars and professional development activities to keep technically current and share information with relevant staff.
  • Assist with communication activities, including social media, success stories, news updates, and website.
  • Work closely with project field staff to develop implementation plans, worksheets, and reports.
  • Maintain relevant files, records and reports.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Social Sciences, disability studies, Human Rights Studies, special education, business administration, or relevant fields proven experience in disability related projects.
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in the NGOs sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management: planning, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in both Arabic and English.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in building cooperative relationships.
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure and under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently.

Driving license is a must.
