The purpose of the Education Coordinator position is to implement a delegated Education project portfolio.
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities
- Line management of Education project field staff including oversight of workplans
- Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
- Contribute to Education strategy development, project proposals and provide input on needs and gaps
- Manage and implement delegated portfolio of Education projects (activities, and project documentation) as delegated from the Education Project Manager in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements, and ensure high technical quality
- Provide regular progress reports to the Project Manager (PM), Area Manager (AM) and the Education CC Specialist as required.
- Ensure that projects target participants most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist
- Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities
- Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills
- Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders
- Promote the rights of beneficiaries in line with the advocacy strategy
- Contribute to implementation of Safe and Inclusive Programming Minimum Standards across the area of work.
Specific responsibilities
- Manage the Education project officers in Gaza
- Frequent weekly field trips to participate/monitor and oversee the project related activities
- Contribute to coordination with relevant external partners, and ensure close collaboration and active engagement of education stakeholders and school/ IDP sites community
- Participate in the Gaza education cluster related meetings if possible and events and support the development of education strategy documents
- Contribute to development, management and monitoring of delegated project budget in cooperation with the Project Manager, Area Manager
- Responsible for the development of detailed work plans for delegated projects
- Responsible for implementation according to technical direction as determined by PM, and to ensure high technical quality of delegated project portfolio
- Contribute to development of new youth/education proposals and concept papers in collaboration with PM and CCS
- Contribute in the recruitment of area project staff if needed within the respective CC
- Responsible for mapping staff capacity needs in collaboration with the education PM, to deliver capacity building to project staff and transferring key skills through on the job training and mentoring
- Actively support that M&E systems and tools are relevant and updated and ensure that Technical Officer are properly collecting M&E data
Generic professional competencies for this position:
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in education project implementation, preferably crisis context situation
- In-depth knowledge of education programming, including curriculum design, teacher training, learning assessments, and child protection in education.
- Familiarity with education in emergencies and/or non-formal education settings is an advantage.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex information to diverse stakeholders and maintain effective communication with team members, partners, and donors
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Context related skills, knowledge and experience (shall be adapted to the specific position):
- Knowledge of the local language Arabic – if different than English
- Experience with start-up, exit or similar
- Proven experience in managing and implementing education projects, including activity planning, monitoring, and reporting.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing teams, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative and motivated work environment.
- Ability to manage and support staff in the field while promoting professional growth.
- Experience in monitoring and evaluating project activities and outcomes, preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring that project implementation adheres to standards and donor requirements.
