A Brighter Tomorrow: Psychosocial Support to Communities in Gaza

Mercy Corps is a non-profit, non-governmental international humanitarian and development organization, registered in the United States and Scotland with offices in more than 40 countries around the world, including the West Bank and Gaza, where the organization has been active in implementing relief and development programs for over a decade. Mercy Corps ‘West Bank and Gaza’ has staff based in East Jerusalem and Gaza City offices that implement programs throughout the Palestinian territories.
Mercy Corps has implemented psychosocial support programs in Gaza since mid-2008 with funding from a range of donors. Mercy Corps new psychosocial project supports the psychosocial well-being of children living in the Gaza Strip. Children and caregivers will benefit from the project through participating in focused psychosocial support interventions. The project will be implemented in Gaza, Gaza North and Rafah governorates, through community organizations that have relevant experience.

Mercy Corps is currently recruiting for the following position based in its Gaza office:

Duration: 12 months with possibility of extension.
Project Coordinator (Full Time)

Main Responsibilities: The Project Coordinator will work directly with the Project Officer and Program Manager to ensure timely coordination between community organizations and other local stakeholder groups for effective implementation of the project. As the main liaison between Mercy Corps and the community organizations, s/he will spend significant time in project sites, working closely with the community organizations towards developing work plans and follow up of implementation of ongoing project activities. The Project Coordinator will also assist in planning baseline and end-line exercises and collecting baseline and end-line data. S/he will closely work with Mercy Corps’ financial, administrative, procurement and other program teams to ensure compliance with Mercy Corps and donor regulations and timely project implementation.

Qualifications:

1-University degree in psychology or related field.
2-At least 2 years of work experience in the field of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS).
3-Understanding of the social, political, and economic context in the Gaza Strip.
4-Familiarity with psychosocial support guidelines e.g. CABAC, Comfort for Kids & IASC MHPSS.
5-Good writing skills in English and Arabic.
6-Proficiency in MS Office.
7-Excellent communication and coordination skills, with strong personality.
8-Excellent planning and administration skills, as well as time and organizational management skills.
9-Initiative, self-reliant and cooperative.
10-Excellent ability to work under pressure and carry out multiple tasks.
