Project Coordinator
Job Description
The YWCA of Palestine and East Jerusalem YMCA are partnering with Christian Aid in the Occupied
Palestinian Territories in the implementation of a pilot programme to to build the Resilience
of selected communities to withstand the various livelihoods threats faced by these communities,
including human induced and natural threats and to use that approach to enhance livelihoods security for those households and communities. This programme is for three years, and will be implemented in Jericho/Jordan Valley rural areas, as well as Bethlehem district, and is mostly funded under a Programme Partnership Agreement with the Department for International Development of the UK Government.
The two organizations (YWCA) and EJYMCA) would like to recruit 2 Project coordinators, one to be based in the Jericho YWCA and the other in the YMCA in Bethlehem area.
Job Title: Project Coordinators (PPA)
Duration of Job: One year (with the possibility of extension)
Closing Date: August 18th, 2011
Target Hiring Date: September 2011
Overall Responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator will work with the designated communities to assist them to identify their priority needs and to find the means to meet those needs. They will therefore act as a facilitator, mobilizer, guide and advocate.
The coordinator will (following being trained themselves) provide training at community and professional level as required including other partner staff, and cooperate with other professional
staff in different organizations. The main duty of the project coordinator is to lead and manage the
project effectively and to ensure that all activities are delivered on time, within the approved budget,
and produces the desired objectives
Required Qualifications and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in the area of community development, natural resources management or other relevant field
1-At least three years of experience in community development or project management including
working using participatory and community led approaches
2-Experience and skills in training particularly using Training of Trainers approach.
3-Computer literate especially Microsoft office applications
4-Good communication and writing skills in Arabic and English.
5-Ability to organize work , lead and deliver activities with high level standards, and proven track
record in producing quality work
6-Prepared to work under pressure
