Project Director

The Coastal Municipalities Water Utility (CMWU) in Gaza announces the following vacancy as part of the Gaza Sewage Emergency Project (Rehabilitation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Sheik Eijleen) funded by KFW.
Position: Project Director
Period: 1 year (can be renewed)
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
The tasks of the Project Director comprise but are not necessarily limited to:
• Assuming the overall responsibility for the work and performance of the Project Management Unit (PMU) and the implementation of the project;
• Managing the PMU and coordinate the various project activities;
• Being the main link between CMWU, KfW, the project's consultant and civil works contractors during project implementation;
• Implement the project on behalf of CMWU in accordance with the agreed upon work plans and with the covenants agreed upon between CMWU and KfW;
• Exercise the tasks and duties of the PMU;
• Ensure that all books and records as defined in the Separate Agreement to the Project and Financing Agreement for the project are kept orderly and systematically;
• Keep CMWU and KfW informed about the progress of works, the financial status of the project and other important issues and development;
• Prepare monthly brief and comprehensive quarterly reports on work progress, the financial status of the projects and important issues/ developments that arise in the course of project implementation;
• Hand over a complete set of documents and records to CMWU at the end of the PMU`s assignment giving all technical and financial details of the execution of the project;
• Certify the consultant’s and the contractors` invoices;
Qualifications and Requirements:
1. B.s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or M.S.in Environmental Engineering;
2. At least 5 years of proven past work experience in construction management in infrastructure projects;
3. Excellent communication and follow up skills;
4. Fluency in English and excellent report writing;
5. Excellent computer skills, including MS project;
6. The ability to work under pressure;
7. Valid driving license.
Place & Time Work:
Full time at the CMWU/KFW Office (Sunday to Thursday). As the prime responsibility of the Project Director is the successful implementation of the project, this may require the Project Director to perform work hours beyond established time schedules.
