RTI International is implementing USAID-funded West Bank Early Grade Reading Activity. This activity will work closely with and support the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) to enhance learning outcomes for Palestinian children at the primary level by improving Arabic reading instruction, and policies and practices at the government, community and school levels. The full-time position is based in Ramallah.
Project Driver - Jerusalem ID Holder
This position is intended to provide the transportation of project staff, equipment, and material required in the implementation of project activities.
Essential Duties:
- Drive the project vehicles with strict adherence to local traffic laws and in accordance to project rules and regulations pertaining to vehicles
- Transport project staff/consultants to/from Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Ramallah, as well as within West Bank
- Maintain the vehicle in a satisfactory condition, including weekly cleaning of the interior and exterior and periodic (quarterly) cleaning of the motor and chassis.
- Ensure that tires are in good working conditions at all time, and that spare tire is in good condition
- Ensure that vehicle usage log is updated daily and submitted monthly
- Ensure that fuel consumption report is submitted as required
- Ensure regular maintenance of the vehicle, and that fluids (water, oil, fuel, washer liquid, etc.) levels are at required levels
- Report any apparent vehicle malfunction to the supervisor
- Report any damage or accident to the supervisor immediately
- Ensure that the vehicle is safely parked and locked when not in use
- Carry out project errands as required

Minimum Required Education & Experience
- High school graduate; formal drivers training with a valid driver's license and in good standing
- At least one year of work experience as a driver; safe driving record with a recognized institution, preferably for a USAID or other donor project
- Holds a Jerusalem ID
- Knowledge of car mechanics and repair
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English and Arabic
- Knowledge of regional roads, rural school communities
Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance preferred
- Willingness and enthusiasm to work as part of a team
- Superior integrity, work habits, and ability to take direction.
