Position  : 1 Project Educational Coordinator
Duration : 12 months including probation period
Expected starting date : June 2017
Duty Station : Jerusalem


Terre des Hommes Italia (TDH It) is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting children against all forms of violence or abuse and guaranteeing their right to health, education and life. TDH It, which is part of the TDH International Federation, is currently working in 20 countries worldwide, carrying out humanitarian interventions and development projects in the sectors of education, mother and child health, income generation, water and sanitation, child protection and rehabilitation, to the benefit of thousands of children, their families and communities. 

 

TDH It works in Palestine since 2000, and it has implemented several educational, health and psycho-social interventions together with its National Partners and with Local Authorities in East Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

In May 2016, TDH It has started the 3-year project ‘Valuing diversity: inclusive education intervention for East Jerusalem children’, (ENI/2015/359-883) co-funded by the European Commission (main donor), UEFA Foundation for Children and Terre des Hommes Italia, which aim is promoting inclusive policies, practices and culture in 10 Awqaf schools located in East Jerusalem.
 

Within the frame of its activities, TDH It is looking for:


a.     1 Project Educational Coordinator (PEC) – full time
 

The PEC will coordinate a team that promotes inclusive policies, practices and culture in targeted schools  and  in  the  community,  recognizing  that  inclusion  in  education  is  one  aspect  of inclusion  in  society. S/he will be in charge of: coordinate and plan, together with the project manager (PM) and the inclusive education expert (IEE), project field activities; coordinate and plan with the PM and the IEE technical trainings, directed to project and school staff and volunteers; support the PM and the IEE in developing the monitoring system and related tools; coordinate the project technical team; ensure data collection, reports and monitoring of sources of verification; monitor and supervise the use of an online thematic discussion forum on inclusive education; support and coordinate awareness activities implemented by the project team; attend technical meetings with local and international stakeholders and coordination with project partners and associates.


Qualifications and experience:

 
- At least a BA or a Diploma in Education, Psychology or other relevant fields.  
- At least 5 years’ work experience in schools or other educational settings (preferably in East Jerusalem)
- Sound experience in teachers couching and/or in coordination roles in education and/or child protection projects
- Competence and a solid commitment towards promoting inclusion, the principles of development and the organizational goals of TDH It
- Sound organizational skills and ability to work as part of a team and to interact with diverse stakeholders
- Able to plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks under pressure and deliver tangible benefits to a team
- Sound oral and written communication skills
- Capacity to build consensus and promote the implementation of a shared vision
- Flexible work attitude

Language and Computer skills:


- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic;
- Fluency in spoken English and excellent skills in written English, especially for reporting purposes;
- Good computer literacy (Word, Excel, Power Point)
