Project Manager
The Swedish Organisation for Individual Relief, SOIR, is a Swedish NGO working in the field of health,
education and economic empowerment in 13 countries worldwide. SOIR has been working in Palestine
and Jordan over 40 years promoting the rights and human dignity of persons with intellectual disabilities.
In partnership with the education ministries in the two countries SOIR has been establishing resource
rooms, resource centres and integrated classes in ordinary schools making it possible for pupils with
intellectual disabilities to attend school. Parallel, by empowering and mobilising parents and NGOs we aim for strengthening the civil society advocating the rights of persons with disabilities.
Position:
SOIR is implementing a cross-border advocacy campaign in Palestine and Jordan for the period 2012 –
2014. The position is based in the SOIR’s office in Al Bireh and entails travelling on the West Bank and to Jordan. SOIR is now looking for a replacer for our project manager during her parental leave. The
employment starts October 1, 2013 until end of January 2014 with a possibility to continue. The position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
-You will be responsible for continuing planning, coordinating and implementing the cross-border
advocacy.
-You will maintain the system for monitoring and evaluation of results within the project.
-You will coordinate the project team.
-You will coordinate the campaign budget and the narrative and financial reporting of the project.
-You will apply, to the extent possible, the principles of participation, transparency, accountability and
non-discrimination throughout the project.
Qualifications:
-University degree in communication and PR, journalism, Social Science or equivalent.
-Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in the development sector.
-Documented experience from advocacy work.
-Skilful and active user of social media and other forms of ICT.
-Experience from the disability and/or the social sector is an advantage.
-Understanding of the civil society and experience from social mobilisation is an advantage.
-Demonstrated experience from and good skills in project management and PME-R, including budgeting and financial reporting.
-Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English.
-Excellent computer skills in the Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
-Demonstrated commitment to the values and mission of SOIR.
-Innovative, flexible and problem-solving skills.
-Good interpersonal skills and an ability to work part of a team and to build strong working
relationships with colleagues, partner organisations and other relevant stakeholders.
-Driving licence is an advantage.
