Save the Children Sweden fights for children’s rights. We influence public opinion and support children at risk. Since 1960, Save the Children Sweden has been operational in the Middle East and North Africa region.
Our main focus of work is on children’s rights to education and protection. We give direct support to more than 60 000 children and many more through advocacy and policy initiatives. Whereas our regional office is in Beirut, we have country offices and activities in several countries in the region.

SCS is currently seeking Project Manager
Duty station: Gaza
Duration: Short term- 6 months
Application deadline: July 5th, 2010.

SC seeks a Project Manager to manage and implement a Child Protection project. The main objective of the work is to create an environment where protection, health, education and recreational needs are met at community level in Gaza by involving local CBOs and national NGOs. The position demands a professional knowledge of management both in terms of implementation of project, staff and administrative /financial routines.

Key Responsibilities:
-Manage and oversee project management functions, including technical, human resources and finance, under the direct supervision of the SCS Country Advisor.
-Contribute to continuous program development, institutional memory and experience-sharing in accordance to the guidelines and principles set in strategic guidelines of Save the Children Sweden.
-Develop and maintain sound partner relationships with project beneficiaries through regular visit, continuous follow up, technical support and representation
-Prepare monthly, annual and end-of-project narrative reports
-Promote and actively support the collaboration within International Save the Children Alliance, represent Save the Children Sweden vis-à-vis authorities, other organizations, institutions and the corporate sector and develop contacts and cooperation with relevant UN organizations and other multilateral and bilateral organizations

Qualifications:
-Bachelor degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, human rights, or relevant fields
-NGO experience in international environment
-Requires a minimum of 6 years relevant experience in psychosocial sector, a minimum of 3 years of which must have been in a supervisory role,
-Professional skills in management and preferable in protection, education or health.
-Demonstrated experience in project management: planning, monitoring and evaluation
-Fluent English is a must
-Good analytical and problem-solving skills
-Demonstrate leadership skills, initiative, and a sincere commitment to team work
