Project Officer
Project: Supporting the Development of Vocational Training in East Jerusalem.
Cooperazione Internazionale (COOPI) is an Italian Non Governmental Organization implementing humanitarian projects in the Palestinian Territories since 2004. COOPI with financial assistance of the European Commission, is urgently seeking a Project officer for its office in Jerusalem.
JOB DESCRIPTIONThe
project officer will research the vocational skills needs of the labor market and explore the potential for creating new links between vocational training schools and industry in training activities. The project officer will work under the supervision of COOPI Project Manager and in collaboration with the vocational training schools and the East Jerusalem Chamber of Commerce. She/he will be based in Jerusalem.
TASKS
• Design studies for assessing vocational needs of industry in Jerusalem;
• Carry out studies to identify vocational skills needed by the labor market;
• Analyze new training opportunities that could be met by VTCs in East Jerusalem;
• Carry out surveys on employment of past graduates of VTCs;
• Collect information on the existing training activities of employers;
• Organize workshops with industry to develop collaborative training models;
• Support vocational training schools in their efforts to establish links with industry;
• Assist partners to monitor and follow up training programmes established with industry;
• Provide support as required to the project manager.
EDUCATION
University degree in the related field (e.g. Economics, Business and administration, Statistics, Social Science)
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Previous demonstrated experience in market research (questionnaire design, data collection and data analysis);
• Good knowledge and experience working in one or more of the following areas: technical and vocational education, service industry, labor market, youth employment, and employers in Jerusalem;
• Demonstrated understanding of political, economic and social context in Jerusalem;
• Flexibility in collaborating with, and responding to the needs of different partner institutions and project stakeholders;
• Demonstrated coordination, planning and monitoring skills;
• Strong communication skills: ability to generate reports, facilitating meetings and making presentations;
• Fluent in English and in Arabic;
• Microsoft office software and excellent ability to use statistical software package ( Access, SPSS);
• Valid driving license;
• Ability to travel in Jerusalem and in the West Bank.
