THE ORGANIZATION Handicap International is an international organisation. Non-governmental, non-religious, non-political and non-profit making, it works alongside people with disabilities, whatever the context, offering them assistance and supporting them in their efforts to become self-reliant. Since its creation, the organisation has set up programmes in approximately 60 countries and intervened in many emergency situations.

THE ACTION:
To improve the life conditions of Persons with disabilities and considering the severe challenges and marginalization that persons with disabilities (PWDs )experience in the oPt, the overall objective of the project is for national and local decision makers in the WB to implement the national disability law and inclusive community development addressing the rights of all persons with disabilities. To achieve this, the specific objective will aim for DPOs (Disabled people organizations) and SHGs (Self-help groups) at national and local level in the West Bank to engage in advocacy activities for the rights of vulnerable persons with disabilities and those living in marginalized areas, fostering a cross-disability approach. The proposed action will implement the commitments of the CRPD (Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities) which stipulates the pivotal role of persons with disabilities and their Organisations in the promotion of their rights in development processes (Art. 29, 32 & 33): Providing means and support for the meaningful inclusion of the interests of particularly vulnerable groups will strengthen the representativeness of the disability movement and thus, its legitimacy. In increasing their capacity to include the whole range of perspectives from the diverse constituencies from all levels, the action will support DPOs and SHGs in assuming a greater role as key civil society actors in governance. Moreover, the project will contribute to greater awareness and understanding of disability, promoting lasting processes of change in the attitudes and practices towards persons with disabilities and a greater recognition of their rights in the public.
OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION:
Under the responsibility of the Project Manager, the Project officer will assist in the implementation of the activities of the project entitled "Advancing the rights of vulnerable and marginalized persons with disabilities in the West Bank through all inclusive advocacy led by the disability movement implemented by Handicap International and funded by the European Commission.
Responsibility 1:
Assist PM in the implementation, supervision, motioning, communication, coordination, evaluation and the logistics of the project with the partners to ensure quality implementation.
1.1-SUPPORT IN PROJECT COORDINATION AND COMMUNICATION. Assist the PM to designing tools and gathering information, mentoring and evaluation. Support in conducting individual meeting with the partner organizations, project coordinator, focal points, SHGs,/DPOs or any relevant institution or individuals. Conducting individual meetings with DPOs, and PwDs activists to briefly present the idea of the final workshop and to collect information about the lessons learned. Follow up deadlines for reports, meetings and trainings with partner organizations and targeted groups Organization and Coordination for designing of newsletters and web pages as indicated in the project Support in dissemination of information ,materials and other productions related to the project Assist in reviewing action plans and financial follow up of project activities, logistics and communication. Write reports ,minutes of meetings of workshops, trainings, seminars and other activities Represent HI in workshops and meetings when requested by PM. Support the PM in selecting the participants for meetings and trainings. Support the PM in planning and organizing for the training sessions, workshops, seminars and other initiatives. Follow up the implementation of project activities when required Submit reports of the follow up monitoring visits, meetings, workshop..etc as requested by the PM. Support in field activity implementation and evaluation
Responsibility 2:
OTHER TASKS REQUIRED. Support PM in developing network among disability stakeholders Contribute to have better knowledge and understanding on disability issues in West Bank through regular need assessment, stakeholders mapping and regular update to PM.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
-At least three years professional experience in working in project implementation preferable with persons with disabilities.
-Bachelor Degree in social science, ,management , or other related fields
-JOB REQUIREMENTS:
-The position is based in Ramallah.
-Ability to work under pressure and within a team.
-Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
-Positive, innovative, inspirational and problem solving attitude

PROFILE SOUGHT: SKILLS
-Strong communication, interpersonal skills.
-Report writing skills in English and Arabic.
-Computer skills (word, excel, power point).
-Fluent in English, Very good writing skills in both Arabic and English
-Willingness to travel to the field-West Bank.
-Excellent networking and coordination skills.
-Good organizational skills. Initial contract will be for a period of 1 year and the position is based in Ramallah.
