Project Officer

Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) is a Norwegian non-governmental organisation working in humanitarian relief and long-term development work in more than 35 countries worldwide.

NPA has worked actively in Palestine since 1987 and opened its local office in Gaza in 1996. In Palestine, NPA cooperates with around 30-35 local organisations in development and emergency relief in East Jerusalem, West Bank and Gaza Strip. NPA is currently seeking to recruit an experienced Project Officer (PO) for our new Conflict Preparedness and Protection (CPP) pilot programme in Gaza. Funding dependant, a second PO may also be recruited for the same role.

Post title: Project Officer
Focus: Humanitarian/Emergency work
Duration: Ten months initially with a possible two month extension, funding dependant.
Starting date: As soon as possible
Duty Station: NPA Palestine office in Gaza City.

Main tasks among others of the Project Officer:
-Responsible for assisting the Programme Manager (PM) for all CPP training and partner activities.
-The implementation and development of all CPP training standards.
-Assist in the training, management and deployment of the CPP partner field teams.
-Conduct Quality Control (QC) of all CPP field projects.

Qualifications:
-Relevant university degree.
-Excellent knowledge within humanitarian aid and emergency response work.
-At least 3-5 years experience working with the NGO sector in Palestine.
-Excellent command of English, written and spoken is essential for the role.
-Excellent computer skills, writing and communication skills in English and Arabic.
-High motivation and excellent work ethic, both as part of a team and independently.
-Ability to work under pressure. • Holder of a valid driver’s licence.
-Being able to ‘think outside the box’, flexible, dynamic, enthusiastic with a good sense of humour.
