SOS Children’s Villages International (SOS CVI) is a dynamic social development organization active in over 132 countries worldwide, working to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of orphaned and vulnerable children. It operates through a federation network of National Associations (NAs) across the globe, working in the areas of child development and emergency response. For its Emergency Response Program (ERP) in Gaza, SOS Children’s Villages is currently recruiting for the Emergency Family support project in the Gaza Strip. This project will be short term it aims at rehabilitating homes and targets the most vulnerable families in the Gaza governorate.

Location: Gaza City
Duration: 6 months
Position summary:
The Project Officer will be responsible for the family support project of the Emergency Response Program. This project will be focused on improving the lives of families living in dire circumstances. It will mainly mean finding adequate housing or rehabilitation of houses for the target group families, but also NFI or FI and psychosocial support. The activities include but are not limited to:
-Conducting needs assessment for each work site;
-Supervising the case workers working on the same project
-Preparing bills of quantities and technical specifications for the needed materials and tools;
-Supervising the implementation of rehabilitation activities on the project sites;
-Preparing weekly and monthly reports on activity progress;
-Reviewing the quality assurance, child safety and health plans adhering to the Project specified requirements;
-Follow up the implementation process
Qualifications & Competencies:
-BSc. in Civil Engineering from an accredited university and registered member in the engineers association
-Experience in managing a team.
-Minimum 3 years’ experience working on small/medium scale construction projects
-Past experience in rehabilitation activities with budgeting & financial follow up skills
-Fluency in written & spoken English/ Arabic with technical report writing & computer skills
-Ability to work in a team, under pressure, ability to take initiative, make decisions, monitor and evaluate
-Ability to handle multiple assignments & meet deadlines with willingness to travel to the field independently
