Project Outreach and Media Coordinator

“Civil Society for Dignity”

In the context of a new EU funded project, “Civil Society for Dignity”, headed by a consortium of three Palestinian organisations: the Palestinian Centre for Rapprochement (PCR), Middle East Nonviolence and Democracy (MEND – www.mendonline.org) and the Palestinian Centre for Peace and Democracy (PCPD) in addition to PAX (based in the Netherlands),

MEND is seeking a full time outreach and media coordinator.

Duration: 3 years
Location: West Bank and East Jerusalem

Main Responsibilities

A - Media and communications

Design, development and Implementation of the project’s communication plan
Organizing training of trainers in participatory video
Organizing trainings for youth in participatory video
Organizing feedback meetings and other project activities in connection with the participatory video
Planning, editing and production of content for a variety of internal and external channels
Ensuring that organizational activities are successfully communicated to external audiences
Writing public media content such as press releases
Photography and video coverage of project activities
Layout and design of communication materials
Creating social media content and planning activities to ensure visibility of the action
Supervision and quality control of work being produced by consultants and service providers
Collection of feedback and approvals from project partners and the donor

B - Coordination

Participation in coordination meetings and meetings with civil society organizations
Coordination and scheduling of project activities, trainings and workshops

C - Community mobilization

Identification and mobilization of new beneficiaries and young people interested in media-related capacity building

D - Planning and budget forecasting

Ensure implementation of action plans and budget forests,?forecasts? and application of modifications according to perceived changes as needed

E - Procurement and budgeting

Developing Terms of References and calls for applications for the procurement of trainers, consultants, equipment, content producers, graphic designers, photographers, film producers, etc.
Selecting applicants, documentation of selection processes, preparing contracts and agreements
Preparing contracts and agreements for suppliers and contractors
Budget tracking of expenditures and payments issued under the project

F - Reporting

Writing of detailed quarterly project reports that reflect achievements of project actions
Ensuring alignment with financial reports covering project actions and expenditures
Documentation of actions and activities, and filing of means of verification
Collection of quantitative and qualitative data from beneficiaries
Development of questionnaires for the evaluation of project actions

Job Requirements

Requirements

Undergraduate degree in media, social sciences, communications, or human rights
At least two years of experience working in the NGO sector in Palestine
Jerusalem ID/Access to East Jerusalem
Ability to travel within the West Bank
Commitment to the values of the organisations in the consortium

Competencies

Strong spoken and written English
Strong spoken and written Arabic
Strong communication skills
Strong knowledge of human rights and advocacy skills
Familiarity with the participatory video methodology
Good knowledge of Palestinian media and digital media trends
Ability to incorporate gender sensitivity into all aspects of work
Creative and able to simplify complex information
Skills in: graphic design, photography, video production
Proven experience in writing success stories, and strong interviewing skills
Knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, and learning tools
Ability to multi task and work under strict deadlines
Ability to work independently
