Projects Communications Officer
The Opportunity
The Projects Communications Officer will support communications, media and advocacy needs and reporting requirements related to the programming and the emergency response activities; supported by the Policy, Advocacy and Communications Team and will work in close coordination with the Communications Senior Officer.
Key Area 1: Communications and Media
- Working with program team, contribute to the development, and lead on the implementation of detailed media and communication plans and country office campaigns and media interventions focused on Gaza. Define budget and resource requirement of the interventions.
- Contribute to the annual media and communication plans development of the CO and Support the development and implementation of the Communications Strategy.
- Develop high-quality communications materials in English and Arabic to reflect the situation of children in Gaza and provide support as required to the development of such materials in West Bank-based projects, for use in programme activities, fundraising and advocacy, such as written, verbal and photographic updates on the situation, as needed, to support media and advocacy work
- Develop and follow the implementation of communications and visibility plans for all projects in Gaza and provide support to WB, take the lead on national activities where designated.
- Administer and support related procurement processes needed for communication activities including; ToRs development, requests for quotations and tenders for communication material according to the procedures set in the Management Guide, as required
- Ensure the quality of all communication material and awareness raising material produced and distributed by SCI for the projects; audio-visual and print
- Work with programme staff to develop and implement a production and distribution plan of all awareness raising material produced within the project activities
- Support development of communications materials around special reports or project reports
- Contribute to oPt website development and content, if requested
- Maintain an updated list of media agencies and engage with media representative in Gaza as needed.
Key Area 2: Research and Documentation
- Support research for both advocacy and programmatic responses for the country office. Conduct or support needs and other types of assessments, as necessary.
- Conduct regular interviews and/or focus groups with children and families reached by the SCI and other interventions
- Write short stories, case studies and photo stories on the ways in which the emergency is affecting children’s lives (using quotes from children – giving voice to children)

- Support the writing of regular SitReps summarizing the situation, as necessary
- Ensure child/parent consent forms procedures (Child Safeguarding) are followed
Key Area 3: Branding and Visibility
- Support Gaza and West Bank projects in their visibility and branding needs as required
- Supports the Communications Senior Officer in reviewing communications materials produced by project partners in the West Bank and Gaza
Key Area 4: Program Development and Emergencies
- In the event of an emergency, support the implementation of the Save the Children Emergency Response

QUALIFICATIONS
- University degree in Social Sciences: Journalism & Media, Business Administration, Literature or any related field.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- At least 2 years of similar experience in a recognized local or international NGO in Gaza or the West Bank.
- Fluent in English and Arabic (spoken and written).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in managing a complex and diverse workload and to work to tight deadlines.
- Ability to contribute to a small, proactive team, motivating staff and working collaboratively with colleagues and providing support and advice as necessary.
- Ability to conduct interviews with children and families and to record primary statements.
- Understanding of Save the Children’s vision and mission and a commitment to its objectives.
- Previous Experience in communications and design is an advantage.
