Projects Coordinator
Position Purpose
The Projects Coordinator at the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) will play a critical role in the successful planning, execution, and completion of various projects that support the development and empowerment of local government units. This position aims to ensure that all projects align with APLA's strategic goals, enhance the capacities of local authorities, and contribute to the overall development of Palestinian communities, to improve the quality of life for Palestinian citizens and achieve the SDGs at the local level.
A significant aspect of this role is to advance the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Projects Coordinator will design and implement initiatives that integrate SDG principles into local governance practices, ensuring that projects promote sustainable, inclusive, and resilient communities.
APLA Background
Established in 1997, APLA is an independent institution that brings together all LGUs. APLA is mandated with representing the collective interests of LGUs, providing lobbying and advocacy in support of LGU capacities, and facilitating the exchange of information and best practices among LGUs. APLA further serves as a channel of dialogue between the central government and LGUs across Palestine with a view to enabling them to provided better services to Palestinian citizens. To this end, APLA defends the rights of and represents LGUs at all national, regional, and international levels.
Project Background
APLA is actively pursuing various projects to support and empower LGUs. These initiatives provide technical assistance and capacity building to LGUs, enabling them to offer better services to citizens and effectively lobby and advocate for their interests and needs both locally and internationally. The aim is to empower LGUs to better serve their communities and promote sustainable development at the local level.
Accordingly, APLA is looking forward to hiring projects coordinator to fulfill the following tasks:
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in overall management of projects, including planning and reporting.
- Develop detailed project plans outlining scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
- Prepare and present progress reports, proposals, and updates to stakeholders and donors.
- Conduct regular evaluations and provide recommendations for improving project effectiveness and sustainability.
- Manage project budgets, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
- Identify and secure additional funding and resources to support project activities.
- Oversee procurement processes and ensure compliance with organizational and donor regulations.
- Prepare comprehensive project reports for internal and external audiences.
- Provide policy support for designing and implementing project activities based on SDGs, including writing proposals, drafting correspondence, preparing briefs and presentations, and participating in research projects, publications and relevant committees.
- Develop and implement trainings, capacity-building activities, communication, policy dialogue and other outreach programs based on the relevant SDGs.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project stakeholders, including LGUs, donors, and partners.
Reporting requirements
The Projects Coordinator will report on a day-to-day basis to the Projects Manager.

Minimum qualifications
Qualifications and experiences:
- Minimum a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Local Government, Community Development, or other related studies. Preferred Minor in Sustainable development and human rights studies. Master’s degree is preferred.
- 5 years’ Proven experience in a similar field. Local Government sector is preferred.
Skills:
- Fluent in both Arabic and English.
- Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Comprehensive understanding of local government sector policies.
- Skilled in planning, monitoring, and producing results-based reports.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in coordinating with diverse stakeholders.
