medico international (medico) is an international non-governmental organization which struggles for the human right to the best possible access to good health. In doing so we support local partners in their endeavors to create the economic, social and cultural conditions which allow each person to attain the highest health standard possible. In particular medico stands by those who are in situations of emergency and in poverty, including refugees and the victims of war.
medico international seeks a dynamic, reliable and qualified full time Projects Officer (m/f) in Ramallah office.
Position: Projects Officer
Duty station: Ramallah
Starting Date: November
Supervisor: Office Representative (Rep)
Working language: English
Type of position: 100%- (40 hours weekly)
Contract: one year - renewable
Main tasks and responsibilities
the successful candidate shall perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:
-Follows up the implementation of all the projects with the partner’s organisations closely. This will be done through office work at medico’s office, visits at partners’ offices, meetings with the partners and through regular field visits, which will include extensive communication with the local communities.
-in coordination with medico’s representative (he/she) will be in charge of coordination and communication with the partners according to the partnership principles of medico.
-Ensures that the projects are implemented in line with the donors regulations.
-Monitors projects progress and immediately reports any deviation from the original proposals. Especially, the projects officer monitors the project indicators, and works closely with the partners in establishing a monitoring system for the projects.
-Ensures that all documents regarding project implementation are collected and delivered in a timely and effective manner
-Works in cooperation with medico’s Finance Administration Officer on the financial and administrative sides of the projects (especially tendering)
-Facilitates the development of the reporting standards for intermediate and final reports, follow the reporting intervals, analyze the reported data and compare it to the project proposals, document the reports in the projects files, contact the partners regarding any delay or deviance in the reports or unclear information.
-Facilitates monitoring missions / travel of staff and field visits.
-Follow up with the external consultants.
-Independently collects background information relevant to the projects.
-Coordinates with other stakeholders (such as INGOs; local NGOs; UN and PA ministries).
-Develops general time management plans of the projects.
-Management of the office knowledge management and information database.
-helps medico’s representative to develop medico’s strategies, concept notes and proposals for future projects, collecting data related with potential partners, informing with any updates in the area which might be important to medico’s mission.
Qualifications/Skills required
-BA in Business administration, health studies, social sciences, or other relevant discipline.
-Five years of relevant experience (at least three years in an INGO) Applications without this experience will not be considered!
-Experience in dealing with donor funding requirements.
-Experience in drafting concept note, proposals, monitoring standards, projects plans
-Ability to communicate across organizational boundaries and borders (West Bank and Gaza, Israel, and Germany)
-Good communication and interpersonal skills
-Ability to work in a multicultural environment
-Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
-Ability to meet deadlines effectively, and work independently under minor supervision.
-Accuracy and attention to details, and excellent organizational skills.
-Proven computer skills, including experience using MS Office (Excel, and Word)
-Perfect command of written and spoken English & Arabic.
