Job Title:Projects Officer
Work Base:Gaza Strip
Reporting to:Emergency Response Manager
Duration:9 months, with possibility of extension

Background and General Responsibilities

Terre des hommes – Lausanne is a Swiss based INGO that has been implementing projects in the Gaza Strip since 1984. Tdh has had uninterrupted operational presence since 2009 with major focus on child protection, juvenile justice, hygiene promotion and has a strong reputation notably through the establishment and localization of Ard-el-Insan, the lead nutrition NGO in the Gaza Strip.

Together with the Emergency Response Manager and Office Manager, the Projects Officer will be responsible for the effective implementation project activities. This involves activities related to Child Protection Issues, Violation against Children, WASH, and Psychosocial support for children and their parents. Working closely with the Tdh staff, the PO will ensure the good progress of the project, the respect of its objectives and the quality of the activities. Additionally, the PO will coordinate with partner CBO’s in the field and he/she will be providing them with essential project management skills and technical support, if needed.  He/she is expected to establish and maintain a network of useful contacts for a strong collaboration between the main actors, partners, stakeholders and institutions Tdh will collaborate with. Specific tasks include

 

Specific tasks related to project:

-Coordinate and ensure all the designed project activities are implemented in adherence to Tdh polices and guided by the vision of project goals.
-Monitor programme implementation by the partner organizations in respect of the project objectives, including setting monitoring activities and ensuring project documentation and visibility.
-Effectively participate in orientation sessions with school teachers and counselors on adequate teaching skills training on alternative discipline aiming at positive reinforcement mechanism.
-Supervise the establishment of Peer Leaders groups and coordinate training to students to including Communication Skills, School Mediation Process and Peaceful Conflict Resolution.
-Ensure establishment of a violence prevention coordination committee or equivalent at targeted schools.
-Participate in establishing the entry criteria for individual case management (violence in school) and coordinate case management training.
-Support the team in identifying children in need of in-depth psychosocial support for referral.
-Develop a work-plan for the project activities and coordinate its implementation with the team.
-Ensure monitoring of the project activities (field visit, regular project monitoring reports etc.)
-Develop and maintain liaisons with relevant ministries and entities in order to facilitate work development progress.
-Carry out any other tasks that are requested by the Line Manager.

 

Communication and reporting                     

-Actively participate in Tdh Emergency team meetings and Tdh Gaza office team meetings.
-Provide comprehensive monthly reports in a timely manner to the Emergency Response Manager

Security
-Commit to respect the Tdh security plan and to collaborate to its updating.
-To maintain a constant observation of the security situation and to report every security incidents to the project manager in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Experience
-University degree in Psychology, Education, Social Sciences, or related fields
-At least 2 years of experience in the Child Protection Sector, ideally with an INGO
-At least 3 years of experience in management and coordination, ideally with an INGO
-Excellent writing and communication skills in both English and Arabic
-Fluency in English and Arabic is a must
