Médecins du Monde (MDM) France is an International Medical Organization, which has been present in the Palestinian Territories since 1995. It operates in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank through offices located in Jerusalem, Gaza and Nablus.

MDM is currently looking for qualified candidates to fill the position of:


Protection Officer, Gaza Base (1 Position)


Starting date: May10th, 2014
Duration: 1 Full Time Contract, 6 months (long term extension subject to funds approval)

I-MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
To contribute to plan, organize, implement and monitor MDMs protection project, aiming at bringing a humanitarian response to the direct victims of conflict related hazards.
To identify partners and contribute to the implementation of a protection referral system to ensure a coordinated and effective response.
To ensure needs assessments (joint with partners if necessary) and contribute to provide direct counselling, follow-up and direct material assistance through partners if needed to victims
To support the set-up of a data management system to monitor the continuum of incident-assessment-response
To providing input to the advocacy efforts of MDM, more specifically in preparing case studies
To supervise and provide technical support to MDM social workers
To ensure the reporting and follow-up of project activities

II-REQUIRMENTS
A university degree in social or political science, international relations, law or related fields, with a focus on humanitarian related fields or/and international human rights;
Between 23 years of professional in the area of protection/promotion of human rights, womens and childrens, and/or rights under international humanitarian law and related areas;
Previous work experience in complex political and security environments; emergencies, preferably with international NGOs;
Experience in the collection, analysis and interpretation of protection related information, including data base management tools;
Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English; ability in spoken Hebrew desirable;
Ability to influence and liaise effectively with key stakeholders, local authorities when necessary;
Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member in complex and often difficult operating environments;
Ability to work under pressure, long work hours, and heavy workload;
Ability to independently organize work and prioritize tasks;
Self-motivated, honest, highly responsible, and punctual
