Médecins du Monde (MDM) France is an International Medical Organization, which has been present in the Palestinian Territories since 1995. It operates in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank through offices located in Jerusalem, Gaza and Nablus.
 
MDM is currently looking for qualified candidates to fill the position of:
 

Protection Officer, Gaza Base (1 Position)

 
Starting date:June 1st, 2015
Duration:1 Full Time Contract, 10 months (long term extension subject to funds approval)
 
I-MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
-To contribute to plan, organize, implement and monitor MDM’s protection project, aiming at bringing a humanitarian response to the direct victims of conflict related hazards.
-To identify partners/collaborators and contribute to the implementation of a protection referral system to ensure a coordinated and effective response.
-To animate and co-lead a pool of organizations involved in the referral mechanism
-To ensure needs assessments (joint with partners if necessary) and contribute to provide direct counselling, follow-up and direct material assistance through partners if needed to victims
-To support the set-up of a data management system to monitor the continuum of incident-assessment-response
-To providing input to the advocacy efforts of MDM, more specifically in preparing case studies
-To support the Advocacy coordinator on her tasks
-To supervise and provide technical support to MDM social workers
-To ensure the reporting and follow-up of project activities
 
II-REQUIRMENTS
-A university degree in social or political science, international relations, law or related fields, with a focus on humanitarian related fields or/and international human rights;
-Between 2–3 years of professional in the area of protection/promotion of human rights, women’s and children’s, and/or rights under international humanitarian law and related areas;
-Previous work experience in complex political and security environments; emergencies, preferably with international NGOs;
-Experience in the collection, analysis and interpretation of protection related information, including data base management tools;
-Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English; ability in spoken Hebrew desirable;
-Ability to influence and liaise effectively with key stakeholders, local authorities when necessary;
-Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member in complex and often difficult operating environments;
-Ability to work under pressure, long work hours, and heavy workload;
-Ability to independently organize work and prioritize tasks;
-Self-motivated, honest, highly responsible, and punctual
