Protection Programme Manager

Save the Children United Kingdom (SC UK) is a leading UK charity fighting for children’s rights and delivering immediate and lasting improvement to children’s lives worldwide. SCUK wants to hire a Protection Programme Manager for its office in Jerusalem who will be responsible for expanding the protection programme, to deliver results that will maximise the impact for children, and to develop and implement child safeguarding local procedures that would enable the implementation of the child safeguarding global policies.

Responsibilities and Tasks:
-Raising and Managing Funds: To mobilise resources to support the Child Protection programme
plan, and to make best use of resources available to maximise impact for children.
-Programme Development and Delivery: To strategically develop and manage Save the Children
UK’s child protection programme in the OPT.
-Develop SCUK Child Safeguarding Policy: This will include developing and implementing the
Child Safeguarding Local Procedures and the child-friendly communication.
-Managing & Developing Staff & Partnerships: To lead and develop a programme team of
SCUK staff and local partners, and to build effective working relationships with relevant decision
makers in government, national/local organisations, donors and key international organisations
which have the potential to maximise the realisation of children’s rights in the country.

Qualifications and Skills:
-Minimum University Degree in international relations, human rights, law, social work, and academic training in child protection work.
-Minimum of 5 years experience in managing programs in the relief /development context, preferably in the Middle East, with at least three years experience working specifically on child protection programming.
-Good understanding of the structures, functions and decision-making processes of key
international institutions and legal frameworks with regard to children’s rights and protection.
-Demonstrated experience in the programme cycle, from design to implementation to monitoring and evaluation.
-Experience developing child protection networks or working within child protection systems, particularly in conflict situations is preferred.
-High degree of political acumen and the ability to facilitate, influence and drive change.
-Experience in financial management of programmes, including developing new budgets and
monitoring budget expenditures.
-Commitment to Save the Children’s mission and values.
