Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) is a leading UK charity dedicated to improving the health and dignity of Palestinians affected by conflict, occupation, and displacement. With a focus on the occupied Palestinian territory and Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, we provide vital health and medical care to those in need, particularly in crisis zones like Gaza. As part of our commitment to meeting the growing needs of the communities we serve, we're expanding our team.
MAP is seeking a PSS Counsellor who will be responsible for will assessing and addressing the psychosocial needs of vulnerable community members by providing mental health and psychosocial support services, including Psychological First Aid (PFA) and individual counseling. The counsellor will collaborate with medical providers to develop individualized plans, conduct safe referrals, and monitor the effectiveness of interventions. The role will involve supporting persons with disabilities, assessing protection needs, and integrating mental health support across activities. Additionally, the counsellor will maintain positive community relations and provide weekly reports on activities and needs, with a willingness to travel in southern Gaza.

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and will have extensive experience in psychosocial support or social work, particularly in child protection, case management, and with vulnerable populations. Technical expertise in supporting persons with disabilities, unaccompanied children, and GBV cases is essential. The candidate will be knowledgeable about the rights of persons with disabilities, confidentiality, and data protection, as well as key protection and MHPSS principles in humanitarian contexts and relevant international standards.
