Psychologist
Main Purpose
Providing psychological support to patients according to MSF principles, standards and procedures in order to improve the patients’ mental health.
Accountabilities
-
Carrying out evaluation of mental health needs of patients and establishing a diagnosis and a plan of treatment. Informing the patient and his/her relatives about the possible consequences of the illness and the drug treatment to follow and referring patients to other health professionals whenever necessary, in order to provide the most appropriate treatment and improve the patient's condition
• According to Project’s strategy, implement Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) protocol, identifying possible survivors of SGBV and referring them to the medical team so that they receive the necessary treatment.
• Providing psychological support (individual, family, group) to patients according to MSF protocols in order to improve their mental health conditions
• Assisting and training staff members and resourceful people whenever necessary in order to enhance the scope of MH activities. When applicable, working in close collaboration with translators in order to ensure appropriate terminology and behavior during sessions
• Collecting statistical and monitoring data about mental health activities
• Informing the supervisor and the medical team about any issues or problems that may arise related to patients’ treatment in order to provide the best possible solution from a medical perspective
Ensuring that all patient information is kept confidential.

·Provide PFA and/or crisis intervention for affected communities, also in collaboration with external actors if/when needed
· Provide individual and group/family therapeutic sessions in the locations identified and agreed by the Project’s strategy
· Conduct psychological assessments of beneficiaries (adults and children) and provide evidence-based brief therapeutic interventions using evidence-based psychometric tools according to MSF protocols
· Provide timely follow up with all the open cases, timely re-assessing their needs and plan of intervention according to MSF’s protocols
· Conduct therapeutic group sessions following MSF protocols in the location identified and agreed according to Project’s strategy
· Identify and refer social and medical needs accordingly, including psychiatric care, child protection, and GBV.
· In collaboration and under the supervision of MHS and/or MHAM, contributes in creating training material according to topics and target populations
· Collaborate with medical and administrative teams to organize and carry on the mental health activities, fostering integrate approach
· Understand the strategy and orgnize the mental health activities in line with MSF’s strategic goals
· Timely communicate, plan and schedule the mental health activities approved by MHS and MHAM, respecting the procedure and deadlines
· Actively participate in learning activities such as MHS and/or MHAM’s trainings, supervisions, case discussions etc
· Provide trainings on topics identified by the MH team addressed to actors and/or groups indentified by Project’s scope of intervention.
· Produce and submit a report at the end of each training module or relevant other not clinical MH activity
· Produce and submit timely to the MHAM the data of all activities provided on a weekly base (or according to the other requested deadlines)
· Address requests from the MHS and MHAM promptly and whitin the required timeframe
· Promptly communicate to the MHAM and/or MHS information related to security concerns
· Participate in medical and project’s meetings when requested.
· Accept to travel and work in both project locations (Jenin and Tulkarem), according to the needs.
· Accept additional tasks and responsibility that can be requested, according to the evolution of the medical activities in the project.

Education
Essential bachelor’s degree in psychology and License of Practice from Union of Psychologist and Ministry of Health
Experience
• Essential minimum 2 years of clinical experience in counseling or psychotherapy treatment
• Familiarity with the regional and local context and sensitivity to cultural nuances in providing mental health care.
• Desirable previous experience with MSF or other NGO’s in developing countries
• Desirable experience with working both with adults and children.
• Experience with interdisciplinary teams is an asset
Language : Arabic - Fluent and English - Desirable
Knowledge : Desirable computer literacy (word, excel, and Internet)
