Partnership Background:

Palestinian Medical Relief Society (PMRS) is a grassroots; community- based Palestinian health organization. PMRS was founded in 1979 by a group of Palestinian doctors and health professionals seeking to supplement the decayed and inadequate health infrastructure caused by years of Israeli military occupation. It is non-profit, voluntary, and one of the largest health NGOs in Palestine. PMRS is national health programs emphasize prevention, education, community participation, and the empowerment of people.
Terre des hommes Italy is a nongovernmental organization, member of the International Terre des hommes Federation, working in Palestine since 20 years and in Gaza since 2008. Terre des hommes Italy assists 100,000 children and 400,000 people with 70 projects in 22 countries.

PMRS and Tdh-It are implementing partners in Psychosocial and nutritional support to preschool-age children and their siblings in Gaza Strip (phase 2) after the successful experience of phase 1.

The project

The Psychosocial and nutritional support to preschool-age children and their siblings in Gaza Strip is the follow up of a similar intervention implemented in 2009/10 by the Partners. The project is funded by Echo – European Commission Humanitarian Aid with 12 month duration, is implemented in 22 Kindergartens and surrounding areas in East Khan Younis and West Rafah.


Background      Degree, bachelor or similar in:  Psychology, Social Sciences, Education, Human Resources related fields.
Experience    working experience of 1 year at least. Experience in working with children as teacher, social worker or counsellor, in delivering training and awareness sessions are also essential.
Other relevant experience:  e.g. volunteering, etc.
Competencies    Beyond what required in the ToR the applicant must fairly patronize the Windows Office Suite
Language skills    English Language (written, spoken) is positively valued

T.o.R.
After an initial training and capacity building, the Psychosocial Worker is responsible of the carrying out the activities included in the psychosocial component of the project in the field.

Specifically he/she will:
-Ensure systematic follow up of the teachers and directors trained
-Deliver monthly Advanced Training Module
-Discuss with teachers, staff and mothers difficult cases and support teacher-family communication and referral
-Deliver Awareness sessions as designed in the awareness programme and conduct a surveys
-Participate to coordination meetings with the Psychosocial Team.
-Contribute to the development of training modules, awareness sessions, and learning material as required.
-Report in English following the TDH reporting system.
-Monitor the impact of all activities done on the wellbeing of the children and collect all data as requested by the monitoring system set up by the project
-coordinate with the other Tdh-It team and staff both at office and field level

Beside the specific tasks the Psychosocial Worker should carry out his/her duties actively practicing team work methodologies, so to maximise the impact of the TDH activities on the field.
