On Psychosocial Support (PSS)
- Introduction
Teach For Palestine is an independent non-governmental Palestinian organization established in early 2023. dedicated to contributing to providing quality and inclusive school education for all children in Palestine. This is achieved through improving the classroom and school environment, adopting innovative teaching, and learning methods, and seeking to provide promising creative solutions to educational challenges, especially in marginalized and remote areas.
TFP is working on develop collective leadership by investing in promising teachers who commit to teach in vulnerable schools and become lifelong advocates for the right of every child to learn in safe and quality learning environments and take actions towards achieving this right. The program focuses on equipping the targeted teachers of primary levels with the necessary skills, knowledge, and mindsets to achieve transformative educational outcomes in Palestine.
The aim of the psychosocial support training program is to enhance the competencies and skills of participants, expanding their vision in integrating the psychological support approach in their classrooms. This aligns with the policy of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in order to helping teachers and students manage emotional stress, trauma, and psychological challenges, and equip teachers with practical skills to provide emotional support to their students, fostering resilience and well-being in educational settings.
- Objectives:
The key objectives of the PSS training program are to:
- Build the capacity of primary-level teachers to recognize and address the psychological and emotional needs of their students.
- Strengthen teachers' ability to provide emotional and psychosocial support to their students, fostering a safe and nurturing learning environment.
- Empower teachers with the necessary strategies, practical skills, and interventions to help students cope with trauma, stress, and crisis management in alignment with the Ministry of Education’s guidelines and TFP manual.
- Strengthening self-support and strength of teachers.
- Scope of Work
The trainer is expected to:
- Design and deliver comprehensive PSS training sessions, tailored to the needs of our targeted teachers.
- Teach practical techniques and tools for identifying and supporting students facing psychosocial challenges.
- Facilitate interactive sessions and activities such as role-plays to develop practical skills in PSS delivery.
- Equip participants with coping strategies for managing their own stress and emotional well-being.
Training Modules:
The training will focus on four main units that contribute to achieving the objectives:
- Unit One: Mental health care of teachers.
- Unit Two: Abuse and Violence.
- Unit Three: Mechanisms for dealing with crises through psychological first aid.
- Unit Four: Expressive Arts as tool for PSS.
- Training Methodology
The training methodology will include:
- Learning by Doing: Emphasizing practical application and hands-on learning.
- Interactive Tools: Utilizing role plays, case studies, and brainstorming sessions.
- Resource Utilization: Employing videos, case studies, and group discussions to enhance understanding.
- Expected Deliverables
Training Sessions: Execute 10 face to face training sessions in alignment with the established framework.
Participant Engagement: Facilitate active engagement among participants and ensure the practical application of acquired knowledge in classroom environments.
Feedback and Evaluation: Offer constructive feedback and assess participant progress through evaluations and practical assignments.
Final Report: Prepare a comprehensive final report that includes an analysis of outcomes and actionable recommendations.
- Duration and Location:
- The assignment will commence on 30th November 2024 and conclude on March 2025 with a total of 10 training sessions.
- Training sessions will be conducted at PRCS – Al Bireh.
7. Resources
The trainer will have access to:
- Training Materials
- Support Staff: Assistance from executive staff for logistics and coordination.

- MA degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of proven experience in delivering psychosocial support training, particularly in educational settings.
- Experience working with teachers and educational staff is highly desirable.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Demonstrated expertise in interactive and participatory training methodologies.
- Proven ability to assess training needs and evaluate training outcomes.
8. Evaluation:
Proposals will be evaluated according to the below:
