OXFAM PURPOSE: To work with others to overcome poverty and suffering

TEAM PURPOSE: To help shape and implement Oxfam’s strategic and operational priorities in the OPTI. To contribute to improved humanitarian programming, policy, partnership and practice in Gaza.

JOB PURPOSE: To support the Public Health team to address the root causes of suffering in Gaza.

 

REPORTING LINES:

Post-holder reports to: Acting Public Health Manger

BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY:  N/A


DIMENSIONS:
-Participation in end line survey of KAP study of Oxfam Public Health Program;
-Assist in KAP study report writing;
-Assist in the payment preparation of the water voucher that includes water voucher verification;
-Liaise with participants, local committees, and support coordination for water safety plan activities;
-Support preparation activities for the External Evaluation process facilitation;
-Support in field monitoring activities ;
-Support engineer with monitoring/ follow-up with toilet repair activity ;
-Any WASH and public health related work as requested by manager.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Volunteer will be supporting the Acting Public Health Manger and will be given day to day tasks depending on ability and initiative. Greater demonstration of capability will lead to increased responsibilities.

Currently there are no paid posts available within Oxfam in Gaza, but we would like to emphasise the importance of volunteers contributing their time and hope we can provide a valuable short term learning opportunity for the right person.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:

Minimum Required qualification and competences:

Essential:
-Ability to speak and write English to high standard (external reports)
-Good presentation skills
-A Bachelor degree in water, environmental engineering
-Experience with NGO in OPTI

Desirable:
-Experience in water and public health projects in Gaza.
-Experience in awareness and hygiene promotion campaigns
-Experience in data entry and analysis using excel
-Experience in KAP water and public health reports
-Ability to work under pressure
-Ability to work within a high diversity team
-Ability to work in vulnerable outreach communities
-Ability to travel throughout Gaza (up to Rafah, Al Shoka)
-Gender sensitivity
-Soft skills and strong communication style
-MSc in relevant field
-Health or Public health qualifications

Oxfam will reimburse you for reasonable local travel and lunch expenses which you

incur while volunteering (details given at interview). You will be made aware of the claims procedure by your manager and informed when changes occur. You are expected to get the best value for money for Oxfam at all times. Oxfam requires receipts for all expense claims.

Local travel costs from your home to and from your work will be fully reimbursed in accordance with Oxfam policy. Lunch expenses can be claimed when you work at least five hours in a day on the production of a receipt.
