Purchasing Buyer
The Purchasing Buyer responsible for the procurement of a wide variety of medical and non-medical material required for the hospital's operation that meet technical specifications, within the required time frames, cost effectively and acts as an authorized agent of the hospital to commit the hospital's financial resources for the purchase of supplies, equipment, and services. Understands and practices the principles of Continuous Quality Improvement.
Responsibilities:
-Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requisitioning department.
-Order and procure medical and non-medical special and capital items as directed.
In all purchasing activities create specifications, obtain quotes, negotiate price, place purchase orders, expedite delivery and problem solve, keep -records and track all costs.
-Review available inventory items by verifying stock; scheduling delivery.
-Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives.
-Liaise with the suppliers and relevant Hospital Departments to ensure effective and correct action on order requests.
-Verifies receipt of items by comparing jobs.ps items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers.
-Investigate and problem solve outstanding purchasing issues and problems. Liaise with Supply staff and Hospital Departments as necessary
-Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
-Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.
-Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents.
-Accomplishes purchasing and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Qualifications and Expertise Required:
-Bachelors Degree of Business Administration or related field
-Minimum of 2 years experience in contract negotiations, commodity management, purchasing, or similar role and Medical procurement experience preferred
-Knowledge of supply and material acquisition as normally acquired through 2-years working within the healthcare industry (Medical procurement experience preferred)
-Negotiating skills needed to effectively bargain for specific terms on contracts Experience
-Working with an HIMS/ERP systems & Intermediate personal computer skill to include but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
-Analytical, planning and negotiating skills.
-Provide excellent customer service, negotiate effectively, be highly organized, pay attention to detail and execute tactical plans
-Ability to work with others on projects under tight deadlines
-Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
-Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
-Be able to work with little supervision and be self-motivated and highly energetic.
