Reconstruction & rehabilitation officer

Al Fakhoora is a non-profit organization based in Qatar and has a field office in Gaza. Al Fakhoora supports education in Palestine through funding reconstruction of educational institutions, psychosocial support projects and scholarship and empowerment projects. Al Fakhoora follow the partnership model in which INGOs undertake the implementation of its funded projects.

Position: Reconstruction & rehabilitation  officer
Place: Al Fakhoora, Gaza field office
Duration: 1 year

Job description
-Conducts technical needs assessments of reconstruction projects through field visits to implementing partners, beneficiary organizations and related institutions.
-Assess the damages and level of needed intervention in schools, universities and other educational institutions.
-Prioritizes reconstruction proposals based on technical assessments in coordination with the country manager.
-Develops general construction guidelines to be shared by implementing agencies to assure establishing of educational friendly environment
-Conducts periodic field visits to monitor progress of reconstruction projects.
-Reports to country manager progress in reconstruction projects and highlights problems and conflicts then suggests technical solutions.
-Reviews implementing partners reconstruction progress reports and provides internal feedback.

Qualifications
-Minimum master degree in engineering or related field
-Minimum 4 years of experience working in construction and rehabilitation projects, 2 of which are in international non-profit organizations.
-Technical knowledge of construction & rehabilitation projects
-Knowledge in monitoring reconstruction projects within non-profit organizations
-Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
-Knowledge in project management beyond the area of construction
-Strong written communication and editorial skills in both Arabic and English
-Self-motivated to take Al Fakhoora construction projects one step further to quality and sustainability.
