Regional Director
Job Description
Palestine Association for Children’s Encouragement of Sports - PACES, a UK registered NGO working in Palestine since 2006 and in Lebanon and Jordan since 2009. PACES provides healthy, structured after-school sports programs for Palestinian girls and boys and is currently seeking to recruit a dynamic and highly motivated professional individual with a strong passion for sports for the following position at its office in Jerusalem:
Post Title: Regional Director
Location: Jerusalem with frequent local travel, throughout Palestine, and internationally (mainly Jordan, Lebanon, and Europe)
Reports to: The Chairman of the Board and the Deputy Executive Director
Basic function of position:
The Regional Director is responsible for covering a broad range of responsibilities from leading strategic planning for programs in Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon, program formulation of new initiatives, drafting policies and procedures, oversight of regional level staff, setting and monitoring management targets, creative responses to emerging complex challenges and representing PACES locally and internationally.
The Regional Director, in cooperation with the Chairman, advocates for PACES and meets with donors for fundraising purposes and to raise awareness about PACES’ programs and philosophy. In addition, the Regional Director works closely with the Deputy Executive Director and the Country Managers to develop value added programs and liaises with other local and international organizations.
The Regional Director is responsible for working closely with the three Country Managers ensuring PACES Strategies and short, medium, and long term objectives of the organization are met. Moreover, the Regional Director makes sure that the Country Managers understand that the central goal of PACES is the development of sports programs for girls and boys, 7-16 years-old, that encourage positive behavior change, by creating safe-havens for children to play and enjoy sports in healthy and productive environments, where boys have an alternative to spending their time on the streets, exposed to extremism and violence, and girls are afforded the opportunity to get out
of their homes and into programs that empower them.
Qualifications:
-At least a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Financial Management, Economics, International Development, Public Administration, or other relevant field from a recognized university;
-10 to 12 years of relevant experience in development and management in a team environment, including strong managerial and leadership skills; strong organizational, networking and representational skills; ability to manage a very varied and changing workload; demonstrable experience of staff development with a commitment to building capacity and an empowering style;
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written, oral, cross-cultural); Proven report and proposal writing skills particularly in English;
-Strong written and spoken skills in Arabic and English.
-Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Applications and in handling of web-based management systems;
-Familiarity with sports programs for children will be an added value;
-Resident of Jerusalem and ability to travel to the West Bank frequently;
-Ability to travel periodically to the Middle East and Europe;
-A valid driving license is a plus.
