The RH Programme Associate (PA) will work under the supervision of the National Program Officer for RH and in close cooperation with the UNFPA team based in Jerusalem and Gaza.  He/she will support the management, monitoring and evaluation of reproductive health component of UNFPA’s country programme. The Programme Associate will maintain operational relationships with various stakeholders, such as the Palestinian Authority, academic institutions NGOs and INGOs, and other UN agencies.

The Programme Associate will apply established systems and procedures and assists in the creation of substantive knowledge by compiling, synthesizing and analyzing information relevant to reproductive health. He/she is instrumental in facilitating programme/project implementation using and developing appropriate mechanisms and systems and ensuring compliance with established procedures.

More specifically, the RH Programme Associate will carry out the following functions:

-Participates in the identification and formulation of the country programme and component projects (both development and humanitarian) related to reproductive health, by compiling and analyzing information in the subject areas of UNFPA assistance to the Government;
-Drafts work plans and works with partners on regular reporting based on agreed monitoring tools. Assists in preparation of tables based on relevant statistical data;
-Contributes to monitoring and evaluation of reproductive health project and programme activities, establishing and implementing mechanisms to systematically assess the achievement of results, conducting field visits, participation in review meetings and evaluation missions and drafting regular inputs to status and progress reports including for humanitarian projects related to reproductive health;
-Analyses basic factors affecting the achievement of results, recommends corrective actions and follow up on recommendations;
-Maintains updated information on RH commodity procurement and follows-up with relevant partners on RH commodities and FP supply, distribution, consumption pattern and stocks to avoid any shortfalls or stock-outs;
-Follows-up on the logistics for timely and efficient transport, storage and distribution of contraceptives and other RH commodities especially into Gaza;
-In coordination with national counterparts and project personnel, guides routine implementation of assigned projects, coordinating the delivery of project inputs, ensuring identification and participation of national counterparts in training activities and study tours;
-Provides logistical support to the RH component implementation through coordination of review meetings and other workshops and events directly executed by UNFPA;
-Coordinates with UNFPA operations unit on provision of training, and supports project personnel and staff on national execution and programme policies and procedures;
-Contributes to the creation and sharing of knowledge by synthesizing and documenting findings and lessons learned, success stories and best practices, strategies and approaches of the Country office and drafting relevant materials for dissemination;
-Supports the advocacy and resource mobilization strategy of the Country Office through compiling and synthesizing relevant back ground material for use in discussions and public events;
-Establishes and maintains network of donor and public information contacts and provides assistance in organizing and conducting donor meetings and public information events;

Job Requirements

Academic Requirements and Experience:

B.A degree in health sciences, preferably with a Masters level in Public Health or Social Sciences and with at least 3 years of relevant experience in project management and coordination within public or private sector.

Languages: 

Fluency in oral and written English and Arabic.

Computer Skills: 

Proficiency in current office software applications.
