Announcement/ An-Najah National University/ Research Assistant

An-Najah National University would announce the existent of a research assistant vacancy to work in a project with the title of Improving the primary health care response to violence against women in low and middle income countries. This is an opportunity for a researcher to work with a multi-disciplinary team, from Palestine, UK, Brazil, and WHO, to conduct formative research to develop interventions to improve health system response to gender based violence.

This is a full time job for 2 years starting from 1 April 2017. 

The research assistant will be based at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and will be accountable to the project Principle Investigator Dr. Amira Shaheen.  With the following main duties;


 Project administration and coordination

- Coordinate and carry out fieldwork under the supervision of the Principle Investigator;
- Design, set up and maintain systems for recording all fieldwork activities under the supervision of the Principle Investigator;
- Liaise with members of the research team, and research participants as required during the course of the project;
- Assist with the organization of an advisory group and other meetings related to the project as required;
- Provide feedback on progress to the Principle investigator, other members of the research team and more widely as required.

 Research

- Visit clinics who have agreed to participate in the research project to recruit health care workers;
- Contribute in collecting qualitative and quantitative data from participants in the research;
- Organize and undertake focus groups and interviews with participants at various locations;  
- Undertake analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, under the supervision of the Principle Investigator; 
- Contribute to drafting reports and papers.
