Research Coordinator
Job Description
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) invites suitable
qualified candidates to apply for the position of Research Coordinator to be based at the Palestinian
Women’s Research and Documentation Center
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the Director and the general supervision of the Capacity Building
Coordinator, the Research Coordinator shall be responsible for the following:
-Commission a variety of research, fact sheets, policy papers and reports in line with PWRDCUNESCO’s vision and mission
-Produce fact sheets and/or policy papers on selected topics
-Commission and implement trainings and/or workshops for researchers
-Assist in the collection and production of training materials, manuals and other relevant resources
-Assist in the implementation of conferences and/or seminars on research themes
-Contribute to PWRDC-UNESCO’s overall networking strategy
-Perform other duties, as required
Essential Qualifications Skills:
-Excellent computer, research and writing skills
-Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
-Ability to think strategically and to plan ahead
-Ability to take direction, work independently, as well as coordinate work with others
-Ability to network with individuals and institutions from various backgrounds
-Ability to communicate effectively and clearly in Arabic and English (reading, writing and speaking)
Knowledge & Experience:
-Advanced degree in the Social Sciences, Humanities or other related field, including a strong
background in Women’s/Gender Studies, Gender and Development, International Frameworks
and Gender, and/or related topics
-Aِt least 2-3 years experience working in a similar capacity at a governmental, non-governmental
or civil society organization
-Experience planning and/or collaborating with governmental and non-governmental representatives, including working with UN agencies and international donors
-Knowledge of action-research and quantitative and qualitative research methods, especially from a gender/feminist perspective and human-rights based approach
-Familiarity with drafting needs assessments
-Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation approaches
-Knowledge of issues affecting the advancement of women worldwide, and Palestinian women in particular
