Job Description

The Research Specialist will support program's capacity to conduct situational analyses and integrate social and political considerations into the project's programming and monitoring, evaluation, and learning efforts. The specialist will conduct both qualitative and quantitative research based on primary and secondary data sources, providing both ongoing and periodic reporting using a variety of formats. The Specialist will also be involved in designing data collection tools (questionnaires/surveys, polls, interviews, focus-group discussions, etc.) for implementation both by the project team and external subcontractors. This position can be based in Ramallah or the northern West Bank.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall research support to the project, gathering and analyzing data from various sources to inform evidence-based, decision-making processes related to emergency response planning and implementation.

  • Provide regular situational analyses of economic, political, security, and social developments, in particular in the northern West Bank, helping the team better inform programming and programming approaches.

  • To support program development and MEL, design and support the implementation of quantitative and qualitative research and analysis, including surveys, key informant interviews, FGD, etc. As assigned, lead implementation of such analysis, including training enumerators and overseeing subcontractors.

Utilize statistical and analytical tools to process and interpret data related to emergency response, project logical framework, and other project needs.

  • Incorporate considerations like gender, vulnerability, and conflict sensitivity into research design and tasks under the program.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, political science, economics, or related field is required; a relevant MA preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in research, situational analysis, social/political assessments, or related work in the West Bank.
  • Thorough existing network of key informants and information sources in the West Bank preferred.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools, data collection and dissemination platforms, statistical software, and/or information management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience producing high-quality, engaging, brief, and well-sourced/researched reports and analysis in English.
  • Ability to travel to and within the northern West Bank, security situation permitting.
  • Determination, commitment, efficiency, and creativity required.
  • Excellent communication skills as well as: a) proactive problem-solving abilities independently and with teams, b) a strong service orientation, and c) inter-personal skills, self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
  • Excellent organizational, time management skills with ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively with professionals required.
  • Oral and written proficiency in English (FSN 4) and Arabic (FSN 4) required.
